Large tire/big meats - Stock suspension Bus thread

OK,
I decided to edit the title of this thread. I know there is a thread on suspension, wheels & tires for lowered buses. Didn't see one for stock buses with large tires/ big meat buses. Here is what I want to put on mine:

Anyone know if these will fit on a 1958 split bus at stock height? I'd be running 15" crows feet rims.

I recall there was a single cab on the west coast who had a tire that looked like this.

I have some 670R15 6ply bridgestones on my bus and they fit, just! Wink

I think they'd be too tall, or close to it. A 205/70 is roughly 25 1/2" tall - these are 4" taller than tat!

in the other thread on colby's bus some one said that 30 inch tires can fit under a bus. but that might be only if it is a raised beam or running raised spindles.

They look tuff MP but i bet theyd never fit without lifting.

My 225-70-14 A/Ts work out to about 26.5 inches over all diameter and 8.8 inches wide. Ive got about 1.5 inches at the closest point at the rear of the dog legs. Your NDCCs are 29.5 inches overall diameter which means Zero clearance.

But then again, the NDCCs are a little narrower, as is the 15 inch rim. Maybe it could tuck inside the dogleg, but i wouldnt bet on it.

Maybe buy one and try it out? Ive done that in the past.

Its too bad, but it appears that most of the serious heavy duty tires which will fit are only available in 14" rim sizes. I looked them up on various websites and was able to find over 15 tires in a 14" which are LT or better rated, or offroad, with diameters of 28 inches or less. The 15" tires are very limited.

I did similar research and wanted to use exactly same military spec tires- but this wont work because its almost 30 inch diameter - WONT FIT.

My bus has 215/75r15 hercules terra tracs, 6 ply, very good and strong. (heard they dont make em any more) they run abt 27.1 inches tall. Works perfectly and doesnt rub- a tight fit and have to deflate rear tires to mount em!

this is for stock suspension set up. Im not sayin g 30" tires wont fit, im sure they will with modifications to suspension etc.
