About how hard was it to pry the rear torsion bar of the inner splines after you unloaded the spring plate. About how long did it take you on a never removed before unit.

I don't think mine had ever been out when I pulled them apart last year. The grease looked ancient.

They came right out with no struggling at all.

I'd be very concerned if you're having a hard time pulling them out. Assuming some PO didn't already do the job and inadvertently used glue instead of grease, it could be rusted in place. If that's the case, you should absolutely replace them, and possibly even consider cutting the tubes and putting in new ones. That'd suck. However, they live in a sealed tube and the ends are covered with grease from the factory. Did the rear torsion tubes rust through, or are the rear bushings so bad that they were open to the elements?

Hopefully, that's not the case and you somehow just missed something somewhere. Did you manage to get the spring plate off of the outer splines?

Ian:
I haven't even tried anything yet. Most the bugs around here are snow driven and I have herd horror stories. I was thus trying to decide if the effort was worth a little lift. All probably go ahead and give it a try do to your recommendations.

I'll take a better look.

“grease from the factory”
I did not know how well!

Thanks

It was nothing. I thought it was going to be a problem. I could not see the bars in the swing plate. There was no definition between the bar and plate I and thought they were welded in or had a collar like my porsche does. neither was correct, once remove take a small hammer and tap out the rod. Mow that they are cleaned and painted you can see definition between the 2 different pieces.
