I have a question on offset on a stock 5 lug from a '67 beetle vs. a steel 5 spoke 5 lug 15"x5".
Has anyone put 5 spoke steel wheels, 15x5, with 185's on a stock fendered beetle. Is there an offset difference that would give a problem??

Steel 5 spokes? Are you talking about a baja bug type wheel, like a Jackman? Can you post a picture?

Wheels like that are made to increase track width for off road use. I know a lot of Hot VW's advertisers sell these wheels. You may want to call one and ask them to measure the offset or back spacing for you.

Since this thread is about offsets, can anyone possibly tell me the offset of the stock VW wheel 15x4.5 or 15x5.5 Thanks guys.

If you could score FOUR front jackman type wheels, I bet they would work.... only because they are narrower than the rears, which are wide!

California Import Parts list these wheels with a 2" backspacing.

Check 'em out. I doubt very much they will fit under stock with fenders. Have you thought of running 2" wider than stock to get this look? No need for spacers as they will fill out the wheel wells nicely.

pulled this off another thread around here...

http://classicvw.org/gallery2/v/just_stuff/wheel+offset.jpg.html?g2_imageViewsIndex=0

what i can gather from that is that 72 and older bugs run a 34mm offset, older than 72 have a 40mm.. and the other types.. well, its all there, check it out.
