Does your standard have cable brakes? I know standard beetle brake drums are getting hard to find... _________________ die schwarzen Schafe #666 |

not sure if i understand your question. but if your asking what i think, then no they are hydrolic, with brake fluid going to all 4 drums. |

Oh,yours is a newer standard beetle. Earlier standards had cable brakes!
I don't have the specs on later model standard beetles,as they're hard to find here in the states, but you could call BFY Obsolete and order a set of redrilled drums. Make sure you tell them that they're for a standard beetle and not a deluxe _________________ die schwarzen Schafe #666 |

Are you talking five lug early VW pattern?
If so you use 66-67 beetle drums up front. ( five lug balljoint )
and you can use thing drums or early Type three drums in the rear.... Or adapters, but they space you out. _________________ • Metal Fab & Quality Suspensions, Type I-II-III. Since 2004 • |

The book "Baja Bugs and Buggies" covers the complete conversion from 4 lug to 5 lug with pictures, part numbers and detailed instructions. It also gives options for using Thing rear drums or converting to larger Type III rear drums.
