Wade.....your bus is either US or Canadian???? Which is it? Unless part of it was sold on Canada and other other half in the US it's got to one or the other. Very Happy

So now we may have at least two logo types for the front glass

US sigla without ~~D-06
Canada sigla with ~~D-06 any more Canadian BD to confirm this???

What do you european BD owners have to offer for front glass logos??

The piece of glass I posted up was from a Canadian '53.

Well half of the rust is still in canada, the other half is in the local US landfill, does that count? I should have said 'Safety export spec'. It is a Canadian bus- laminated glass, sealed beams, mph speedo, etc.

My 52 has the same sekurit logos on every piece of glass, although there appears to be a bit of random dot placement going on....

Barnjunkie, Scotty.....noticed that as well.....appears to be correct as the etch is still on the outside of the glass. If it were on a passenger side glass than the logo would be on the inside on the bus. I wonder how many OG barns still have this combination. Interesting.

So a better conclusion to be drawn is almost anything goes for the windshield logos Rolling Eyes

Thanks to Mr. Matsuda for the Japanese Encyclopedia of Vintage Volkswagens featuring the 55 BD

Also for the passenger side door handle, one part closer to completion Laughing

Does that handle match in part # and style with your driver's side?

Here you go.....perfect match style and part number.....

The 29 part number was dropped at some point in 54 for these handles.

I was under the understanding that the L part number ended before the 29 series started.

The AL are made by Huf and would have a 'VW' stamped key and the 29 are BuM. From what i know it does seem that late 54's/55's have the AL handles.

for what its worth, i already had my handles off of a bus and accessable. i am 99.9% sure these are original handles to my dec. 54 #107051 and they both read as dougs,AL..... too pocked to get a decent photo though.

I was just wondering if it matched his driver's handle for reference.

My 1/55 Kombi had a lot of stuff with 29 part #s on it but I don't have a record of what front door handles it had.

My '54 Truck has had the driver's door replaced but I think it still has the original driver's door handle. It uses the '53 key style. I don't have the part number or photos at this time.

Just to try an help out I still have the doors off the 55 BD 23 I used to have and the handles are still on the doors. I know they were original to the bus. I'll go the warehouse and try and pull them off this weekend and see what they have as far as part numbers..

my 55 bd has AL handles that appear to have never been removed, and it also uses the key shown above with the VW logo. It also has some 29 part number stuff on it.
