He's my second and can't find the words in any langauge to describe how happy I am!
On wed, jan 30, 08 little Liam (Lee um for you non Irish folk) was born. At 6 lbs, 2oz he's a little thing. A few minutes after birth he stopped breathing and scared us quite a bit. He was full term, but his lungs aren't fully developed due to my wife getting gestational diabetes. He's doing well now and should be home in a week or so. He was born at Loma Linda University medical center. When he stopped breathing it was a suprise to everyone in the room. With out missing a beat they all went into action. As soon as the nurse said he stopped breathing 4 more DRs and a bunch of nurses were in the room. An excelent staff, they had him breathing again in under a minute. A few minutes later he was in neonatal ICU and on life support. There fast action saved him from any permanent damage. Our family is eternaly gratefull to them.
Just gotta love that full head of red hair. _________________

Hey, congrats!!
I helped deliver all three of my sons, and everytime it is so amazing. I m glad to hear that he is doing well. The images from that day will be with you for life.
Congrats to the rest of the family too! _________________ "To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic." Ted Nugent

My son was born 4 weeks premmie and weighed a little over 4lbs. He also stopped breathing when in ICU while asleep. The nurse just shook him and he woke up and breathed. If that wasnt' scary enough, he has to have an electronic home breathing monitoring device which was a stap across his torse with sensors connected to an alarm should he stop breathing. That damn thing would misfire all the time. I don't thing we had a single nights solid sleep in the two months or so that he had to wear that thing.

Congrats. Our son came out blue as a pair of jeans and not breathing... for about 12 seconds, but I know what a scare that can be.
And our daughter (with some Irish descent), I'll say this lad: Beware the red hair, for there is an attitude that goes along with it I have learned.....
Enjoy the wee ones, your lives will never be the same.... _________________ John Henry

I wish I had followed that advice. I didn't want NO part of wifey's "works" for three months afterwards. Male hormones prevailed in the end, though. _________________ 2%

X2
Except the mortician in me had to ask the doc what kind of suture he was using and why. We got to talking about sutures and knots and needles, I don't think my wife was happy.
BTW, congrats on the alien baby. _________________ CU05
