Can anyone post any pictures with their bug with American Eagle Rivieras on it? _________________ 1973 Super Beetle

They look good. I think they'll really help dress the car up with 195/60/15's. I currently have 165/65/1?'s on the semi-rusted original wheels... which I'll put up for sale, once I get the Rivieras, here and on Bellingham, WA, craigslist if anyone is interested _________________ 1973 Super Beetle

I put a 195/60 on one of mine once. I think it is to wide for the wheel. I have 165r15 on it now |

Did it rub with the 195/60/15's? My '73 SB suspension has not been modified. I want to put the widest tire possible, without it rubbing when I turn, to give my Bug a sportier look. _________________ 1973 Super Beetle

I did not mount it on the car. It just looked wrong when it was mounted on the wheel. Too much tire for the wheel in my opinion. |

Had the wheels and tires put on. I had 195/60/15 tires put on the Rivieras. The 195's are a little too wide, but still looks good. I would recommend to folks to go with 185/65/15's. They'll fit better. Too late for me to correct the error (I'm broke - for now). _________________ 1973 Super Beetle

I just picked up a set of Riv's for my 75 SB. There is a post "How wide a tire for a 5.5 inch Riviera rims" you might want to take a look at. Looking around, I have seen a few people say that the 195's will surely rub. The 165/15's seem to be the way to go. I have two sets of 165/15's now as my Riv's came with tires. I haven't even put them on the bug yet!
Anyway, some say the 165/15's are hard to come by. Let me know if you need a set. I'm in Longview, WA.
I am going to try and restore the Riv's before I run with them. |

I have a lowered Beetle in desperate need of tires. Found a great deal on a set of 195 50 R15s. Nervous though...will it rub is the question...
According to this and other blogs I've read, 185 65 R15s are a popular choice. I am thinking that the offset of the tire width and heighth should compensate for the differences between the 185 65s and the 195 50s.
Some bozo put temp tires on the front of the car when I got it. They are 112.5 70 R15s. talk about a squirely ride...anyway, with the wheel turned all the way to one side, there is at least a 1 1/2 space between the tire sidewall and the nearest rub point.
Anyone shed light on this? _________________ 63 Single Cab

My SB is lowered about 1.5", and without the ability to narrow. I had 190/65/15 on the front with stock rims and they rubbed like stink! If you are running a narrowed beam on your '63 ( i presume this is the bug your wondering about) then you should have no problems. If not, it still sounds like you have good clearance. Just take it slow on the bumps! |

I mounted Fuzion ZRI 195 50 R15 tires on my lowered beetle a couple days ago. I checked for rubbing, and if I turn to the wheel to the full extent possible is rubs a bit on the torsion arm. Since this is done only occasionally and only at very slow speeds, I think I am alright. No rubbing on the fender tops...this is very good. _________________ 63 Single Cab
