I am looking at getting the solid style Centerline rims for my 1971 super beetle. It is at stock height. I would like to get 5.5" rims and use the same size tires at all four corners. What is the largest size I can get with that combination with no rubbing or interference problems?

No one has any ideas on this? If not specific to Centerlines, what is the largest 15-5.5" wheel/tire combo that will go under the car at stock height. Also, I do not see a lot of info on the Centerline rims on the forum. Are they not good for street use? Please advise, this will be an expensive purchase.

I say tire size would be 165/r15. I have seen many SB with stock wheels with 165/r15 on all 4 corners. But it also depends on the offest of the wheels. I mostly see people use the old school tire combo of 145/r15 up front and 165/r15 in the rear with centerline wheels.

You must not be on the big island. it's 135's on bubble offset fronts and and the narrowest, lowest profile tire they can stretch over a 7 or 8 inch rear. Wink

Alot of people do that on Maui too, the 135's on Centerline 15x3-1/2 bubble offset wheels are common here. Along with the 205/50R15 stretched on the 15x7inch Centerlines. I usually have the 125's on my bubble offset wheels and a set of 225/60R15 on my 7in wide Centerlines.

I ran 205-60's on my 73 SB with only minor rub issues, I'd say 195-60's would be a good bet.
