heres my build so far(slowly gettin her done)

so finally got back to the car and I was about ready to start doing the final blocking of it, I was going to leave the rear clip that the PO did on it being as it is not going to be an OG car anyhow, but I couldn't go through with it, it wasn't the right clip and it was put on poorly, so I straightened out the old clip I managed to find on the good ol samba, and got started.
this is what the PO did

fitted the new apron but had som really big gaps to fix

after cutting out some of the old apron to patch the gaps, I finally ended up with this, not the best job, but I think it is definatly better that the old one

went inside for a minute, came back out and caught my helper jumping the gun on the finish work

after a stern talking too, lol, we got to work and got it blocked out, I will shoot a few more coats of primer this weekend, and block it out again next week and she'll be right Very Happy maybe I'll get some paint on her in a few weeks, finally Very Happy

Oh and the color has changed, went to pomona last weekend and saw way to many strato silver cars, so I am going with something different, I've never seen it on a bug before so we will see.

thanks ANT, I'm really gonna push the body work now to try to get it done, but I already know the next two weekends aren't gonna be available, so I will have to try to get it done in the evenings. thanks again

finally got to lay down some color, got the wheel wells, interior, trunk and engine compartments sprayed
I think the fist pic is most true to the color it was taken last after all was done and the lights were off, the lights make the rest look pretty yellow

all in all I think its coming out alright for the first time painting, no runs and very little peel. I will color sand and buff it out tomorrow and see what it looks like

thanks guys, I may spray the rest today if it is not ready to color sand but will see, I really like the color too was trying to go with something you don't see ten of at every show, of course a purist would probably have a field day with me for it Very Happy

So I went ahead and painted the rest of the body today since I couldn't color sand yet, came out alright got some peel in the clear but i wanted to make sure it was going on wet enough not to bad though did get a run or two do to lack of light, but it should all color sand out real nice, at least I hope Laughing

Thanks man, yeah I'm not to worried about the runs, I would be more worried if I had dry spots

That color right thur is sexual chocolate Laughing just kiddin, doesn't have a name I picked it out of a dupont book and then test sprayed it, and then had them tint till I got what I wanted
