For a '67 dash is there a source for a tach with a face that matches the speedo to place in the clock opening? Thanks, Jim |

Get an extra clock and send it to NHS to be turned into a tach

Good idea, thanks, I have had them rebuild my 356 tachometers in the past and they are great. Jim |

The 67-71 ghias used a small (2 1/16"/52mm) clock. VDO makes a 2 1/16" tachometer in its Cockpit series, but it has a black bezel and red pointer. Perhaps, it could be modified it to serve your purposes. _________________ 1966 Karmann-Ghia convertible |

Thanks, I contacted NHS and we will see what options they offer. I know when they rechromed and modified my 356 tach from mechanical to electric with an 8000 RPM face it looked perfect. |

Those gauges are awesome! Are you talking about North Hollywood Speedometer and Clock Company? |

Be prepared. They quoted me a price of $450 to convert the clock in my '71 to a tach, which I believe is the same as a '67.
I'm crazy when it comes to car stuff but not that crazy. I passed on it. _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus

I used a 52mm sunpro tach, slid right in the small clock hole on my 71 (ebay $15)
Volvo also had a 52mm tach.

For those who want a tach that looks correct, there's NHS; for everyone else, there's Pick-N-Pull and AutoZone. _________________ -Thom

This is very true. Their craftsmanship is superb and labor does not come cheap. I decided I wasn't that interested for the price and had the original clock restored.
If I had a high performance engine, I would spend the money. The cost then becomes inconsequential in the scheme of things. _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |

I used an old porsche 914 tach and used my clock face with an insert supplied from a friend on this site. I'm no purist and had much more things to spend the $450 on. The tach looks great in the car.

Getting back on topic, there is only one 52mm tach I could find with a bright metal rim instead of black. VDO makes several lines, some with stainless rims and white pointers, but no small tach in those styles. Autometer has one, but an exact style match to our clock and spedo it is not.

Good find! The VDO Series 1 gauges look the closest to stock 67-71, but they don't make a 2 1/16"/52 mm tach. _________________ 1966 Karmann-Ghia convertible |

Thank you for the info. Just great documentation and proof that to do it right costs $. I sent the clock off to NHS to be converted to a tach. Jim |
