|
|
I just purchased a 68 beetle project and have a set of empi 8 spoke style wheels (5.5 wide and made by eagle alloy). Since the 165R15 and 165/80/15s are out of the question (due to national backorder) what size tire should I run.. Since the wheels are wider than factory I would like alittle wider tire but I don't want it to scrub either. I don't see myself lowering this beetle but if I do, it will only be a few inches.. Im sure this has been covered to death but I did a search and can't find a solid answer... Thanks in advance for the help. by the way the car is swing axle is that matters |

These are Empi 8's (15x5.5) on my '69.
185/60r15 fronts
195/60r15 rears.
I bought it with that tire and wheel combo, and I can see a cut to the right front rubber where the PO had it lowered but not narrowed so the tire hit the wheel well at some time. Ever since I put the narrow beam in I can turn to full lock now with out cutting anything.
Tomorrow 205/60/r15's for the rear. _________________ my everything hurts. |

I had great success running 175/65/15's up front and 205/60/15's in the back. My bug also had the Empi 8's and it was lowered 3" front and rear. The tires never rubbed at all. |
