Seems like total disrespect for the old lady, and the bus. Am I the only one? I guess there is not much hope for the bus. All in good fun I Guess.

I agree, really cool videos.
I had read the thread on the dsk web site a little while ago, from what I can remember the bus is REALLY rusty, like one good sneeze and the roof will fall off. I beleive it is quietly decomposing away somewhere.
I think it was more of an excercise to see if they could get it going, there is no way they could keep it on the road in that state and it would be quite an expensive/extensive rebuild.
I thought they were quite nice to the old lady, she seemed to get quite a kick out of it. But yeah, they seemed to thrash the bus a bit at the end.
Cheers

it is way too rusty to ever be on the road again. check out how the whole roof wobbles with the engine revs. it was salvaged and brought out early in the "rat movement" in australia. it was good for a laugh, really. it is still alive, but doesn't come out of hiding much anymore.
the old lady was loving it.
and yes, he was wacking the drums to loosen the stuck brakes.

Matt,
Is this their site http://www.dsk.com.au/ if so it is down and Ill have to check back at another time. Do you know what year that was when they got the bus and what year the bus is, being it has semaphores it is 50's right?
This video was very inspiring to know the VW airhead motors are the best! I know she is pretty far gone and most likely not worth the repair but if they are going to bring it around from time to time I would rather they treat it with a bit more respect.
I also think they made the old woman happy by getting it fired up and having her drive it out but in the video they said it would be put to rest, RIP but they must have done a lot of work on it already to drive & stop so is it going to live or die?

| That old lady was stoked. I'm sure if she knew how many people smiled seeing her bus on the road again she would be delighted. |

that is the coolest part really. it is an australian built, early 60, right hand drive, semaphore, double door panel. with original period sign writing and cab divider. if it wasn't so far gone it would be a pretty amazing bus to have on the road.
fact is though that it will never again be on our roads, so why not chuck on some deluxe trim, rusty safaris, brms and slam it, bring it out to a show, and spice things up a bit. that sort of thing had never really been done before in australia at the time. what those dudes did was have some fun with something that otherwise would have been stripped and crushed, and yes, it brought a smile to many faces. it also brought disgust to others, but you can't please everyone all the time, eh.
all good fun _________________ 30 Windows |

dmb,
Thanks a ton!
So what are the house rules on a rat bus? It appears they are all mechanically sound and even some have a bit of body work. And many have cool wheels too!
