I am wondering what is the highest horsepower air cooled VW engine you have ever seen or read about?

Was is a Street or full race motor?

Don't want to start a flame war or anything. Just curious of how much horse people have squeezed out of a aircooled VW motor

Not sure if these examples qualify, given they're not VW-built engines but rather aftermarket based, but I believe both the folts and schuh rail from the '90s and VW Paradise dragsters put out over 1,000 horsepower.

I realize there's a fine line between VW-powered and VW-design based, but there you go. Cool

Why not just make a custom set of wires with a Y splice in them. Then you could just run one distributor.
