I have been hunting for an aftermarket speedometer gauge for a 69 ghia. All I can seem to find is 3 3/8" or 3 3/4". Does anyone know who make them? I think it would look really silly if I have all aftermarket gauges and the old speedometer. I have called Egauges and got no where. Thanks for the help.

you need to find one that is 4 1/4 and if you do post it because I cant find one either. I assume its a ghia only size for the 68-71 years Sad

If you're trying to match VDO Cockpit gauges, a 914 speedo might work. It's black with a black bezel and red needle, but it's only 4 inches in diameter. Not my picture:

Here is a shot of what I did, but I would still like them to match some aftermarket oil temp, oil pressure, and volt gauges

it takes a bit of patience to pry off the chrome ring, and make sure you replace the needle i nthe exact same spot when you reassemble, or it will throw off your calibration.

btw type 3 speedo is the right diameter, you just need to grind off the mount tabs in the back because they mount differently.

CLKWRK- what kind of cd player is that? I am looking for a CD player that will not require any dash modifications.

that is a sony xplod deck, i does not fit in the original hole , I had to mount it from the back with a fancy bracket I made.

I am not using it anymore as I did cut my dash for my 911 gages

Will a 66 bug speedo fit a 69 Ghia? As far as hole size? I realize the obvious other differences but would it actually fit ?

Beetle speedo will fit if you are willing to open the hole up a bit. Also they attach different, two ears on backside. I welded studs on back of dash face. I had one in my ghia back when I first got it up and running. Later I swapped it out for a trip speedo.

You can see the studs in this pic.
