The internals of the muffler are completely different

Everybody keeps saying that but does anybody REALLY know how much better these will flow than original or is it only better looking and sounding unit (wich is enough for some people)!? If the hp gain is ~1-2hp from original I think it is waste of time and money...
self made merged header with proper muffler will do the job much better =)
p.s.Vintage look is different thing!

If you scroll down on this topic on my website forum you'll find an extract from the early '60s book "Souping The Volkswagen".

This was the informed opinion "back in the day". I'm sure you could do better today but that isn't, (I'm sure you realise) why Vintage Speed people prefer the 4 Tip Exhaust.

I forgot to share one detail. The black coating is junk and will come right off with your fingernail. IN theory, if you get it on and burn the coating on, it will stay, so they asy...
I bought all stainless, without the black. Love the fit, quality and sound. Mine were from Europe, I know nothing of the ones from CIP1. They might be from the same guy?????

I think so...even Steph isn't sure.

What happens is Stephane will feed a big supplier in bulk and they in turn supply specific parts to other retail outlets.

For example the big supplier will order 150 units and others will maybe order 40 units from that supplier.

From the price and picture of the 4 Tip I think you can safely say CIP stock Steph's exhausts.

Ordered mine around christmas and we finally got around installing it this week... holy schmoly batman, it sure was worth the wait! Smile

The looks are just perfect, and the sound is much more deeper and meaner, in a sporty way. I could swear that in contrast the noise inside the car was audibly reduced -> somehow the deeper tone just doesn't enter the car as much as with the stock exhaust?? Anyways, outside the car it's clearly louder than stock, not too much though Wink

We had to cut out about 1-2cm from the lower exhaust intakes to make it fit the car, but i strongly suspect this was because of the heat exchangers as they're most likely some bad quality aftermarket ones..

To sum it up: couldn't be any more pleased with the exhaust! Pray Very Happy

I had the cut my lower exhaust intakes as well to get it to fit properly and I have original heater boxes Eh? ...and I completely agree, I'm extremely happy with my exhaust too it sounds great!

Hello-

When i looked for the exhaust, you simply couldn't get hold of him. Only way was to buy from vendors who had stock, got mine from BBT in Belgium.

Hello-

Holy c***! It looks like CIP just exhausted their stock.

http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=C21%2D1053%2D10

I knew I should have bought one. Sad
