Just had to change my clutch cable and i put the new one on and i tightened that wing nut by the transmission as far as it would go and i still have no pedal, its on the floor. The last cable i only tightend it half way. What am i doing wrong? Where i put the clutch clevis/pin in is it possible i did something wrong there? I have tried twice to see what i am doing wrong but cant figure it out. Thanks

Did you compare the length of the new cable and the old one?

It was longer than the old one, are there different lengths for 68-71 72-79? I put an old one on that is holding on by 3 wires and it fits fine. Think it will hold till i have one shipped? Also the clutch engages to quick should i loosen or tighten?

Tighten, yes there are different cables, 68-mid 72 and 73+.

could a improperly adjusted clutch cable cause grinding? my bus is fine at first but after warming up she starts grinding when shifting into 2nd and 3rd,

Plausible, but worn synchros, a warped disc or a siezing pilot bearing are far more likely, a few turns tighter on the wingnut will answer your question.

Is that before or after this cable was installed? 3 wires won't cut it, they are stretching.
