All factory pulleys will have a TDC mark. The question is are you on #1 or #3. To find out remove both valve covers. Put a wrench on the alternator/generator nut and rotate the engine until the TDC mark is in line with the case seam. Then have someone rock the engine back and forth as you observe the valves on #3. If they move then you are on overlap on TDC for #1. If the valves for #1 move then you are on TDC for #3. |

glenn , i took 1 & 2 cover off and #1 plug out turned pulley to tdc , screwdriver trick verifies me that # 1 is all the way up , and when i rock the motor 1 & 2 valves do NOT move , is this correct am i now on TDC for # 1 ??? the post you refered me to says that once i reach this point i need to turn the engine another complete revolution to TDC ? is that correct or am i at TDC Now |

When you think #1 is at TDC, slide over and look at the valves for #3. When your buddy up top is moving the crankshaft 2" on each side of TDC with a wrench, those valves will be tapping "like fingers on a table" if you are at TDC for #1.
If they are tapping at #1 when you do that, you are at TDC for #3. |

Thanks for all the replys guys , i got it running this morning , set the svda at 32 full advance . all seems good . next problem , i went out to the garage this evening just to start it again and the battery was dead car has always had a week battery and its been sitting for about a month so the dead battery again didnt surprise me , so i hooked up my battery booster / charger and accidentally put it on 200 amp start , car turns over fine but now i have no spark . is it possible i fried coil or the computronix in dizzy . how can i tell ?? if so can i just put the points set up back in the svda that has been curved for my set up by low bugget or no ? |

Try replacing points and re-timing it.
I assume you are getting no reading on the dwell meter? |
