Hi,

I still can't see the latest posted image, but I'm assuming you're refering to the two holes on the side of the speedo pod?

I don't have a pic of my ambulance from that angle, that I can recall, and the ambulance is not at Home with me now, so I can't get one easily.

I have two toggle switches there...and they look different.

One is to remotely activate the ceiling light in the back, and the other I have no clue...I've never figured out what it's supposed to do. Sad

The other switch, which normally is for the dome light, turns on/off the roof lamp.

Hey Nifartachi,

Wicked! I wonder why they used their own switch on mine then...

As you can see, my ambulance has a rooflight, but it's different to the ones shown in the manuals.

There's very little info' available on the lights/sirens/relays/switches of these vehicles.

The one switch on the side of the pod is grey and flat, and the other is black and round-ish - which is which?

Cheers, Nic

Now I can see the image. Very Happy

That manual link is wicked - thanks.

1. My toggle switch for the rooflight. Now that I know the pod switch is for it, I'll change it asap.

2. Wipers.

no.1 it's for a mirror, but what about no.2? Do you have any idea?

Not all of your pics are working for me...

Now I can only see the pic showing the interior mirror mounts.

I had a wierd non-VW mirror in mine, but took it out as it's pointless, and to my mind, incorrect.

I don't know what the big hole in the middle is for.

Cheers, Nic

I can't see all the pictures either, but in the picture below, there are 2 mounting holes for the 67 only mirror up top, and the third hole is for a rubber bumper that the mirror stalk rests on.

Thanks mate,

I guess I don't need a mirror there, since I don't have a rear window. Smile

Thanks for the info'.

Were '67 interior mirrors optional (in general, not ambo-specific)?

If so, how rare are they?

I have one on my '67 crewcab, and it gets a fair share of comments...

Right? Sad

That looks like a place to store a battery, maybe an accessory? It's true that it doesn't look like anything I've seen in an ambulance before, but a lot of these coachbuilt vehicles were custom ordered with special tasks in mind. I'd trace those wires and see where they end up!

Very cool bus though. As far as Ambulance to camper, just don't throw anything away and don't do anything that can't be reversed later!

I'm not sure if they were standard by '67. Earlier years they were an option, or dealer installed. most early commercials did not have inside mirrors.

67 is a one year only mirror. The main difference is where the stalk attaches to the actual mirror back. It is offset to one side as opposed to in the center.

Rare? eh, they come up for sale now and then and are comparably priced to others. There's at least one in the classified right now.

Thanks Scott.

My dream bus would be that rusty '60 Standard with semaphores (long gone now). Dove blue, rusty and with semaphores! Dancing
Probably I'll have to sell her in order to realize this dream; I hope it won't be necessary , but if there is no other way, I'm sure having some original ambulance parts would be a great asset. Smile
