Ok so i heard that any thing over a 6.5" wide tire sticks out of the fender on a stock set up. ok so i have already bought 3" wider (each side) fiberglass stock style fenders.. any one run these? does that mean i can run a 9" tire and keep ot under the fender.. i am lowering the car, but only have the stock rims and dont want to stick out... this will make the car an extra 6" wider in the back.. im keeping the stock 5.5" and fenders up front. i want the fatties in the back and skinnies up front look. she wont be a wheel puller just more of a cruzer with that look.. jbugs.net has crome stockers that are wider im thinking of doing 9's or maybe an 8.5 with meaty tires in the back and a 5.5 or 6" up front with the stock style hub caps.... |

I have 3" wide fenders on the back of my bug. i am running 17 x 8 with 4 1/2" Backspacing. The tires are probably 9 inches wide give or take a little.
Just a side not if you are lowering the rear, look into flipping the rear trailing arms! It made a big difference in the way mine sits. Tires are vertical and not leaned in. |

These are the 15x8 from jbugs with 3" wider fenders, I believe this is the set up you want !!! If you 9" in the back you might be pushing it if you wanna be low , stick with 8" and you'll be safe !

Do a search. Someone has a great pictorial on the step-by-step of flipping the trailing arms. I believe it was one of the volks rod guys. It helped my car out a ton. I didn't want to be eating tires every 5k miles. |

I wanna put these wheels on my bug.
Can i fit 15x7 with 4.5 inches back spacing under stock FRONT fenders?
Also, is it impossible to fit 15x10 with 5 inches b.s. under 3 inch widened rear fenders? |

thanks a ton for that... im gonna do this... so for all of yall who have done this.... 1/2" = about 3" of drop? or what is a good rule of thumb. i have no motor and trany in the car so if i do this now it wont sit low like it should, her butt is all up in the air like a cat in heat . i have taken out the gas tank and put a 15 gal fuel cell over the spair. i just need to figure out where to move the spair to.... maybe gonna try where the old tank was... i lowered the front to be 1/2" or an 1" from the fender edge (cut coils) and jumped around on the front to see how it would sit and if it would bottom out... im thinking it will sit a tad lower once the car is driven around some.... i want to get that same look as these pics here... |

if you read what was originaly posted... you will see that a rim with the stock back spacing will stick out of the fenders after 6 to 6.5 inches. there for i think the answer to all of your questions is no. just reread this toipc youll see some #'s that will fill in your blanks |

So, I have a 74 super beetle, and I have been told by Jon at Topline that a 7 inch front wheel with 4.5 inches of back spacing would push the wheel out too far and cause shimmy, shake, and geometry problems. To rectify this, I plan on getting 8 inch wheels with 4.5 inch backspacing so that they are properly spaced out but still have wheel deeper in. Topline said this would be fine, what do you guys think? |

Why thank you! It is nice to finally have it complete and reap the rewards of hundreds of hours of work. Thanks Again! I will post more pictures of it soon, now that the interior is in. |
