Need a set for my Oval. Found a site that sells the mirrors NEW, but they say they own the OG tooling, and there is no way to get the OG arms for them.

Anyone have any idea where I can get some NEW alberts?

How about a restorable set?

I notice the guy is selling them because he's afraid of someone pulling on them. I have had them on my car for 6 years and do 10 shows a year and never had a single incident. Actually people put their hands behind their back when they get close to the mirrors----strange behavior. Shocked

The new glass is readily available, but like I said the right "goosenecks", "arms", or whatever you choose to refer to them by are a different story. Im thinking that I could almost have a set milled out of Titanium and polish them myself for less than what the OG's are pulling. That is IF you call pull some originals.

Pic of the NEW ones from the guy who claims to "have exclusive rights" to the original production materials/machines:

realistically it wouldn't be that hard to make a sand casting of a set and pour them out of aluminium.

Who is it that says he has exculsive rights to those. I seen them for $75

You can buy the tooling but the international patent has run out. Last I heard was that Tony Moore at Wolfsberg West was looking to remanufacture the mirrors. It isn't rocket science and whoever does it will probably do alright selling them. Confused

I spent about 20 minutes trying to pry the info out of the guy. He said that they (BMW BOB's) have exclusive ownership and access to the original tooling and processes. I cannot confirm or deny that this is true, just what he told me.

I agree that a sand casting would be a cheap quick fix, but I've never been a big fan of cast aluminum. Where the arms approach the mirror and narrow out, I see a good chance of breakage with an aluminum casting. I guess it's better that the arm give way first though. Confused

I really don't feel like getting in to this again, but I want to address this from a logical standpoint..... Confused

I never said there was nothing good around here. Very Happy

It seems that we're perpetuating a misunderstanding that I thought was already resolved. That's fine. That's your perogative. Just know that you stated that you "never saw me drive past your house", and I've accepted it. If you choose to dwell on the rest of it, there's nothing I can do about it. Smile No harm no foul.

You already stated that you and yours wont be selling me any parts as a result of our last issue. So what good does it do to tell me you have Alberts if I know you wont sell them to me? Moot point.

Good luck with your VW's, and have fun with your mirrors. If you ever decide you would be willing to sell them to me, just let me know. If I don't already have a set, maybe we'll talk. No sweat off my ass. I can get them elsewhere, and I'm in no hurry.

Thanks for the information though!
