Yes,
The red car in the Grundmann museum has a sunroof.
This is only one of the 26 known surviving cars that has a sunroof.

Just made an update of the list.
Yesterday I went to visit the museum car and the grundmann cars, so I now added the bodynumbers for these cars.

This is the final prove that car nr 13 & 14 is the same car.
Car was sold to Lenny Copp in 2002/2003.

I tracked her down. Lenny still has it, but the owner is Flat4. Lenny will restore the car for Flat4.

"Number 13" appears to be painted Porsche Condor Yellow, which has a distinctive greenish cast. This color (Porsche #6010/Reutter #743) was only offered on the T5-bodied 356s cars built between mid-1959-61, several months after this Lawrence body was apparently built. _________________ 11/1954 Type 113 (US market)

I've heard tell of another lawrence... potentially for sale... in Central California... not on the list...
Don't know the details yet... and I haven't seen it... but the source is legit.
still digging to get to the owner.
so all in all... we have a pretty high survival rate amongst the known Lawrence cars! A lot higher survival rate than the beeskows. |

@t3kg: No, I haven't received the bodynumber. I can take some time before I get it. It is now in storage awaiting for the restauration
@Eric: If you found another one that would be great. Today I also got an E-mail about an yet undescoved one in Germany. Hopefully the story is true. There are 26 cars shown with pictures and at least 2 and possible even 4 cars that have to be photographed and published. That makes a total of 30 cars of the 85 made: 35% survival rate.
Still hope to be able to buy one of this beauties soon.

Wow, finally some new pictures. That's great.
Any idea were this car went to?
If this are pictures from the late nineties, the car should be still alive

Joe ruiz, or lenny knows. Ask em. Joe knew mark well enough to be on the phone with him, when the window fell out. As i spoke of before.
Ill say it again, i cant imagine the feeling of seeing that rear window hitting the freeway and shattering. I would pull over, break down and cry like a little baby. _________________ www.zeitgeistmovie.com

You are correct, this is my old Rometsch at a VW Classic.

If my memory still works this coupe used to belong to John Ryan,
Clearlake, Ca. If not there's one just like it still out there. _________________ founder - Rometsch Registry - 1978-96 |

Time for some updates.
I haven't find more information about the red/white car. Lenny can't remember this car. Still have to try Joe for it.
I got some "new" pictures of the yellew car. This time when the car was in better condition.

The one on the left is the Wendler recently restored in the NY/MA-area. I know the pre-1994 owner of the Wendler had one more Wendler...maybe he was the owner of the Lawrence as well?
I believe Blue Nelson helped out on getting the two Wendlers from the south and up to the present owner - maybe he would know? But I guess tracking down Mr Nelson is more difficult than finding the car.. |
