If so, how did you go about doing this???
Im considering installing one myself however, im not sure on whether or not to wire it directly to the battery of to the fuse box....??? (the pros & cons)
I'm not sure if old VWs have a few accesory ports on the fuse panel...
and also, where the most efficient place is to attach the groud wire?
"10-4 good buddy, im east bound and down"
thanks!!

wire it to the fusebox. less wire.
i dont think theres anything wrong with a CB in your bus.
i can tell you, as an ex truck driver, that most the talk on CB is crap. i usually left mine turned down and ran my satalite radio. _________________ WTB: Four J Motors dealer license Plate Frame.

| I have removed a few "CB wiring jobs" from bugs and busses. The "Kracker" special. Not to cap on the blind, But they all looked like a blind man did the install. |

here is a pic of how the antenna is mounted on my westy
a piece of u shaped allum bolted to front bumper
then the wire runs under the bus
i avoided puting holes in roof at at all cost
the radio itself is in the glove box
the main reason i have a cb is the PA !!
nothing is more satisfiying than fliping the switch on the abulance siren i have,
& telling people to get off their cell phone threw the pa
most people dont look around they just do it |

I had one in mine for years, I wired the CB to a 12V socket so I could unplug it whenever I needed.....the antenna was a clamp-on rain-gutter, drop-down thingy, I had it tuned to make sure it was working perfect, and that worked great for many trips to and from Everybus from Canada to North Carolina in a big line of buses.....
I would not hardwire a CB as you never know when you may need to switch to another car....

awww man i love it....nice anttena mount & pictures
yeah i considered the 12V source...but i used have it that way in my old SUV and it was a problem.... but yeah it is a good idea when you get a good one....
so running it to the fuse box is the best way? is there a few empty ports?
thanks for everyone's input!

Hippieguy123,
I'm not sure if you know this but...
After you find a suitable location for your antenna you'll want to make
sure that you adjust your antenna with an SWR meter for proper
operation. Not doing so can damage your CB radio or at the very
least cause you not to receive or transmit full distance. If you have any
questions about anything related to CB radios I can help you with it. _________________ -"Orange Sunshine"

Why don't you just get one of the portable ones. My father gave me one from back in the day that was never used. Just plug into cig lighter mount antenna and talk away. However, when we triedit out we did not hear the traffic we used to hear when I was a kid. I guess cell phones took most of that. _________________ Sheeple is a term of disparagement, in which people are likened to sheep.
