Hello,
What is the metric size of the reamer used for the king pin's bushing?
Also, as a personal curiosity, ...why the king pins kits did not come with the bushings already reamed to size from the factory ? _________________ 1964/65 Standard Beetle. Work in progress.

.710in. or 18.03mm, +/-, measure the pin to be exact.
The bushings change shape and size when pressed in, so they must be reamed to fit. _________________ Andy

so a "standard" (and easily obtainable ) 18mm reamer will not work ? _________________ 1964/65 Standard Beetle. Work in progress.

I have just measured up my replacement ( NOS ) king pin.
It's 17.95ish mm in size .
I have rechecked the measurement with two different dial calipers. Clearly is "almost" 18mm.
So I am confused... and I have to ask again: what is the size of the factory reamer ? _________________ 1964/65 Standard Beetle. Work in progress.
