You may squeeze a 31 inch tire depending on make, (some are a little shorter than the advertised 31). 30's will fit without rubbing the torsion housing.
What tire?

Sounds like your best bet would be some 235/75R15 BF Goodrich All-Terrains, or BF Mud Terrains. The mud's would be more expensive but would probably suit you better if you aren't hitting much of anything but mud. I had BF All Terrains and they did fantastic.
That said, pretty much anything in 235/75R15 with aggressive tread might suit you. Most are going to be a 29" tire, which is as big as I like to go on a 1600CC since I offroad in very hilly areas and I need to keep some power. _________________ '71 1302

Here is my 70. I just put BFG KM2's on the back 235/75 r15. The fronts are BFG KO's same size. First I ran the KO's on the back with 26" street tires on the front because I couldn't afford 4 BFG's. I was so impressed, I decided to get even more aggressive when I got money for 2 more tire, so I got the KM2's and put the KO's on the front. I just mounted the tires Friday night so I haven't had a chance to try em out. I'm sure they will do great. As for your choice, I suggest choosing what would be best off road. Even the big offroad tires will work on the road.

I'm running 7.00's on 4 1/2 slots on the front and 31 x 10.50's Super Swampers on 8 1/2 slots on the rear. I've run this same size years with no problems. _________________ I suffer from a serious disorder : Volkswagenitis |

The suggested tire sizes are good. If you plan on a lot of mud, definitely go with the mud terrains over the all terrains. I've used both BFG MT's and AT's over the years on my LandCruisers and other Toyotas and the AT's just load up and spin. Go with the Super Swampers for even more traction. Get the radials for better on-road driving. _________________ (ignore the X's ) |

Many people needlessly worry about tire wear with aggressive tread on the road. Tires have come a long way since the days of the giant howling, vibrating bias ply tires on trucks. Most aggressive treads are now available as Radials and are much quieter on the road and last longer.I regularly got at least 45k out of my BFG Mud Terrains, while the All Terrains got closer to 55k. They were not bald when I bought new ones either. Yokohama Super Diggers were a different story. They wear out quick. _________________ (ignore the X's ) |

The KM2's in the pics are 235/75 r15. I'm not the least bit worried about road wear. I'm more worried about global warming and nuclear war. |

I am running 205/75r15 a/t on the front of my Baja and 215/75r15 m/t on the back. This is all that I need for what I use the Baja for. _________________ Larry Gathright

Since I bought my baja, I've spent lots of time looking at the pics on tirerack.com. |

That is where I went when I was looking at different size tires for my Baja. The rear tires that I have on my car are 1/2 inch tall and wider then the front tires. It will used mostly on the road to and from work. They will work fine if I want to go on some back roads in the mountains here. _________________ Larry Gathright
