First I had to sand my new powder coated pan..

I put it down thick so I could cover up the ridges on the pan, apparently this is where the moist accumulates.

Thanks. Next I'm going to get the wheels done. Tires are going to run me about $120 a piece. The powdercoating for the rims is going to be around $200. Alot of money for just the wheels. So it might be a while until I post those pictures. I'll finish up the pan next week and then put the rear end together.

Are you sure you got the correct length brake hoses? It looks to me they'd be too short at full lock...

I was thinking the same thing. Turn the wheel to the right and it looks as if it would pull.

Might be an optical illusion. It does look like there is not enough room. I double checked them when I put them in. There is enough room.

Wow! Those look fantastic! What did it cost to have that done? And did you have to do the prep work or did they?

Here is a rim almost ready... I'm going to go to Home Depot and get some aluminum sheets to make a cylinder so that the paint does not get on the center of the wheel... I'll post a picture so you can see what I'm talking about..

PostPosted: Tue Feb 09, 2010 8:05 pm    Post subject: Powder Coating Reply with quote

So, I still have the wheels to paint and a lot of part to powder coat. I decided that I was spending too much money on powder coating and I bought a blasting cabinet and a powder coating system.. My wife went out and got me an oven.. I practiced on a wheel drum and it came out pretty nice...
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I also, ordered my white walls. I should get them next week..

I had to sand the powder coating to get the paint to stick, once I paint the white I'll clear the entire rim...
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I'll post some pictures of the wheels when I finish painting them, this is what I'm using to paint the 2 tone...

Wow! Really nice!!

If you don't mind me asking... What did you spend on the total setup for powder coating? I've often thought of doing this myself.

Dont mean to highjack this post....but I got my powdercoating system from Eastwoods. I really like it. And I got a old oven. I always seen to bump or rub the part before I can get into the oven. But other than that it works good, I just need more practice.
