|
|
| This baby is BLACK inside, paint code is 526 000 it's a 1964 model. Came into the port in LA, was purchased in the high desert in Barstow 20 years ago. M codes are 428, 025, and 181. Figures, I've got a perfect set of painted hubcaps for it. Anybody heard of paint code 000? |

Looks stock inside, a fallen CHP officer owned it in the 80's I think it might have belonged to the CHP first, so you might be right about special order paint. Anybody ever heard of a CHP crewcab? The funky wheels are rollers, all the 14's on it were flat.

526000
special order / westy code
5 export model 26 single/double cab
000 would be paint
001 was usually black
the other way to read this code would be 52 lower color 60 upper color 00 interior... but I've got nothing for those codes. _________________ Air and Water are needed to survive,

| The inner pass. side headlight bucket has black paint, can't see any paint codes. Wherever the black is peeling, it's rusty metal from sitting outside, can't even see any primer. Weird! I can see some tape lines on the edge of the white paint, so probably done after it got here. |

I'll add 000 as black too.
Does it look to be solid black top and bottom originally? _________________ How to: Post Photos | Search

It does look black top and bottom originally, I've never seen crude tape lines on an original two tone bus, and the frames were left black. I think they took it to a body shop, pulled the window frames and popouts and put the white top on.
This is great, if I want to do a correct restoration, I'll be driving a black truck in California with no AC with chrome hubcaps. I'm definitely going to find sources for dry ice for next summer! |

| Well, after a year and a half (my fault, not the truck's!) this baby is almost ready. New brakes, new wiring courtesy of Jim Bass, new shocks, new tires being mounted today. Motor should be ready by tomorrow, need to do a good shakedown before the 1300 mile round trip to Havasu. The Havasu trip is really a test run for the Shasta Snow Trip. THe truck has been off the road for almost 17 years! |

Sorry for the delay, having trouble digging through my shit to find the little NOS motor crap I've been hoarding for this truck. We're reorganizing the warehouse so nothing is where I left it.
The previous user of this case must have used an electric fuel pump
This military sealant can was made a month after I was born, made for serious duty. It's resistant to all solvents, oils, fuels. Real good for soothing calloused hands...

that was a fuel injection type 3 case originally. so yes it had an electric fuel pump, but the short studs were there to secure the temp sensor that fit down the fuel pump hole. _________________ If guns kill people, then pencils misspell words, cars make people drive drunk, and spoons made Rosie O' Donnell fat!

Well, got a frozen latch situation sorted. When I pulled the latch I found no paint or primer underneath?!? The dash and the bench wall have some spots that are peeling, no primer there either, bare metal. It's shiny and black behind the door seals and everywhere else I look, underneath as well.
Would they have sent it out black with no primer, because of special order?
Factory screw up?

No primer under a gate latch is no suprise, they went on before the dip. Is there primer on the back of the paint that's peeling off inside? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

| No, bare metal everywhere the paint is peeling. No sanding marks, just raw bare metal. Weird! |

Maybe triple 0's is nothing. Maybe that's what it means. NO PAINT. Shipped with no paint and painted upon arrival at CHP Inc. _________________

Not to point out the obvious, but 0x000 is the hex code for black. _________________ -Thom
