Got the outriggers the other week so yesterday night I mocked them up and spotwelded them in place.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Continued with drilling the hole for the shift rod linkage but the machine I borrowed from a friend was somewhat to weak. I need to rent a stronger one for this job.

As soon as the hole for the linkage is done I will remove the chassi from the workbench. Cant see that it will warp at the current status. It should be fairly strong now with the outriggers in place.

Tested the inner rocker and it seems to line up perfect but I think I will wait with welding this in at the moment. I would like to do that later I think. At the moment I dont know the correct position for it. How should it go in? Should it be flush with the first tophat?

Another big issue could be ticked of the list of things to do this week. In Sweden you need to do an "origin control" on all vehicles that is not currently in the car registry. That needs to be done with a receipt to prove that you have bought the vehicle and the old registration papers. Yesterday I got it all approved so now I can go ahead and do a full registration on it. The bad thing is that the bus needs to be a 100% original for the first major MOT registration. Thats not the way I want it Cool

Im sure you will find that once you drive it stock for MOT, you will fall in love and the bus will talk to you, explaining that it was meant to be that you save it and it remains stock. Smile

Good work Dai...
Nice front floor Panelan...

Mightymouse I did get a ride in my friends stock 51. Not so pleasant Very Happy
It needs good handling and not be to noisy... but who knows. Maybe it will talk to me Razz

I need a big fat kick in the behind. I have not been out to the garage for a week now. There is 8 inches of snow here in Sweden and really coooooold.

However my friend is done with the construction that is going to be used for docking the chassis in the body. I just need to get it home in some way.

well nize... it is an antique work truck, not a 911. So i wouldnt expect the ride to be very pleasant.

As for a swift kick.... Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen. GET OUT IN THE SHOP AND GET TO WORK!

Hi Nize,
I don't think that you need to have the bus done for a "ursprungs registrering".
I "regbesiktigade" a Chevy 56 truck that I hade shipped over from Cal.
The SBP worker told me they first do a "ursprungs registrering" and after that they do a "registrerings besiktning". The "ursprungs registrering" you only need a chassie nr and a frame + paperwork, they told me. I think a phone call to SBP will be a good ticket if you want to mod your buss.

Finally some progress... We have had exceptional cold wether in Sweden so the time in the gararage has unfortunately been limited. With temperatures of around -30 degrees Celsius it is just to cold to be working on the bus.

However the chassis jig is now done. Big thanks to Björn and Roffe for the help with that. The plan now is to make docking support for the front beam. Then next step is to lift the body over the jig. Place the body, which still has the front beam mounted, on top of the front beam supports in the jig. Then some minor adjusments and weld the frame together with the front frame rails. I sure hope...

Well it started of like this:

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And after using two jacks and four peoples lifting in the rear we could slide in the jig and the chassis under the bus. After centering the jig and geting it perfectly horizontal we could finally weld the chassis together with the front chassis kickups!

A major difficulty is now ticked of the list Razz

It took some while to get all the measurements straight but now it should be all fine!

A big thank you to the team that helped me!!!

Nice one Nize Cool , its such a feat trying to get the frame in level, when one thing changes it knocks out a ton of other measurements. But worth the time it takes to get it spot on or nothing else fits.

There looks to be at least one person in the team line up that will need the favour returning Very Happy .

Anyways.. Great Work!!

Thanks Mark!
In fact the jig was a big help in getting it all straight...
I think I know who you are refering to in the picture Razz but infact I think that two more persons in the picture will need some help sooner or later. Its nize to have good friends that all have got bitten by the same bug Cool

I will not post any names but I can tell that among this bunch of people you will find:

* 1954 Klein project
* 1950 panelvan, 1951 daily driver, 1954 ambulance project
* 1954 RHD kombi project, barndoor klein to be collected from the woods soon.
* 1954 Samba project, barndoor panelvan project, 1950 without front

And me with my 54 kombi... Very Happy
