sold my vert, now I have a '56 oval. I realize that this is stamped '59, but your thoughts please on a way to mount this in my oval? Do these fit in the column holder type guage pod? I did manage to find 2 NOS senders for this guage. I'd love to get this thing installed |
They'll fit in a repro Motometer 52mm column mount, or an original Motometer under-dash mount. "Stock" installation would be to drill a hole in the dash, but the Motometer mounts would be "period correct". _________________ Check my classifieds for kewl gauges:

Beetle. All Ghias have a Ghia-specific fuel gauge except a couple early electric ones that are almost identical to early Beetle accessory fuel gauges. This doesn't resemble any of them. _________________ Check my classifieds for kewl gauges:

Are you able to replace a regular fuel gauge with a motometer version?
Or do you have to replace the sender as well? Or are there places that sell a sender that would suit.
Thanks for any help, Daniel. |

Looks like a 40mm "red needle". It's a period Beetle/Ghia accessory, but without a matching sender they're worth next to nothing. The grille might be worth a little more. _________________ Check my classifieds for kewl gauges:

Does this one have an externally mounted sending unit, or the internal circuit board with coil hook-up? I heard the circuit boards don't tend to hold up well with time, don't know if that's actually the case. _________________ Check my classifieds for kewl gauges:

I think you have this mistaken for a later Faria built Empi tachometer that used an external sender.
This one is only 2 1/8" in diameter and uses no external parts.
And is much earlier !
