Finally got around to posting some pics. The clean-up is ongoing, but this is after about 10 hours of scrubbing, vacuuming, and sweeping. Next is the power washer and the engine.

Unscrew and disassemble all of the ductwork and plastic feeder tubes. Clean with bleach/water solution. Wear a mask while doing all of the above. _________________ 1976 Westfalia

| That under-the-dash picture gives whole new meaning to the term "rat's nest". Good job, though. I've dealt with a lot of rat problems, in southern Arizona. Pack rats completely filled my 10 foot square well shed, up to the ceiling, with debris. One long weekend, they chewed completely through the battery cable on my Chevy truck. Copper! Nuts. You'll probably have to check out every wire. And rat pee is pretty corrosive...probably want to get some rust prevention on those floors and walls where the debris has sat against it. Nice bus, though...best year, rare 9 passenger. Score! |

wow, that looks great! you're in Colorado though, so watch out for the hantavirus with all that poo-cleaning.
Take a calendar, find the date 14-days from today, and write with a marker "dead yet?" If not, you're fine. _________________ -'70 VW Bus (hard-top camper: all the perks of a camper without the leaky top!)...shown in pic pre-restoration. |

Yes _________________ The best thing that anyone can do for their Bay is get the Volkswagen of America Official Service Manual published by Robert Bentley. Without it the bus is pretty much doomed.

Only 4 people in Colorado died from it in 2007 so you're probably fine but:

And it's only Deer mice not rats.

Clean and stright 74 at salvage yard in Chandler. Full drive train. 030 auto, no induction, carbs. Checked for a t-stat and didn't have one, but to my surprise the heads looked new and the push rod tubes too. Makes ya wonder. KYB shocks all around, rotors and drums looked good. I pulled the rear bumper off to get the heavy duty hitch off. Cigar ashtray with auto emblem, fuses, and shifter. All for $35 bucks. Has the overhead a/c unit in it. All the seats were gone, but the driver. Full carpet front to rear. All the glass was good. Red with white tin top. The exhaust very clean (H/E). It would be setting in my driveway if it wasn't for the HOA assholes. Markings on the fan shoud noted it has hy. valves. Wish I had a pic to show. Hope somebody gets it. For those that have seen my bus, the body on this one is better. _________________ 78'FI, 2.0, a/t, lift spindles, index rear, 930 cv's & axles, 4-2-1 header, Xtera rack, 6gal.
