Yes they are very rare.
Of the 800 RHD K70 LS's built, at the last count in 2008 only 5 were still registered in the UK. I don't know how many are still on the road now?

Update!
The K70 sailed through It's MOT with no advisories.
It's now had a full service and fluids change. I am now collecting bits for the future, if and when they come up for sale,which isn't very often.
first show was the Cornwall Jamboree.

Neither! The car was owned by a man in Devon,uk since 1975.
He has given up driving through ill health.
I'm lucky he knew all about the K70's little problems from day one, ie.. Rust, overheating and more rust!! He fitted an electric fan and had the car waxoiled every other year since he owned it.
He also worked abroad for many years, hence the low mileage.

Still love your car alot! Only thing that would worry me is spares....where in the world would you get any replacement parts for it?

Parts do turn upon occassion, German e-bay gets a bit of hammer by me now.

Very nice acquisition, Al. I hope not too much permanent done with the slam job. I'm almost inclined to say, I would trade one of my Porkers for. Good thing I'm on the other side of the big pond.

The lowering job hasn't needed any chopping! Modified mk 1 adjustable shocks and a bit of grinding of the rear arch return is all.
I'm not going to start messing with this car too much as It deserves more than that. As for a swap with one of your Porkers, It costs about the same to ship from the UK as It does from the US.
So a straight swap then?

 The GF will force me into celibacy if she sees another VW on our block. She's already complaining why I sold the 914s & 914-6 and kept most of the T3 (T25 to you) vans and trucks. If she notices any of the winged Porkers fly, I suspect she will be less than thrilled. She's not anti VW. She's just pro-Porker.
RO/RO from continental Europe is about $2400 these days. They charge us based on currency at the source. The USD is lower than a streetwalker's self esteem at the moment.
I do have a Landy Bowler Tomcat if you know someone who fancies one.

| The engine pic looks identical to my 69 NSU 1200 except for the fuel intake set up. VW borrowed from NSU RO80 in development. Interesting find,should accelerate and handle well. |

Al,
The price of petrol is less than 50% cheaper here. Considering we have the highest prices in the US, UK prices are definitely bordering on ridiculous. But then we have a bigger country to burn fuel in. 
Sorry, I have an old '97 Tomcat which was the original. The Wildcat was after Bowler sold his company. Steering wheel is on the wrong side!

Which came first? The chicken or the egg?
VW owns NSU and folded it into Audi. Did they own NSU yet during the period? Besides, the car industry is so incestuous, especially in Germany, that I would not be surprised if VW & NSU were not already doing joint development before their merger.

No need to speculate. Google is your friend. Apparently, others had written all this stuff down for others to enjoy. According to the Wikipedia article, it was developed as an NSU originally to have piston engine as a smaller alternative to their Wankel rotary powered Ro 80. You can read the full story here:
