Hello,
"The idea of simplifying the motor and its associated workings so that you can mechanic yourself is long gone. This is not a VW issue - it's the way it is for all modern cars. Computer controllers to start with...
With all of the regulations on mileage, emissions - and customers demand performance, reliability and endurance - the computer controlled engine is here to stay." (rockfish)
This may be the case but it doesn't mean that all of the components have to be so unreliable or as expensive as they are. I feel like I'm being held hostage whenever an oil change occurs at the dealership. Honda electronics and Toyota's electrical systems are extremely well built. I guess my argument probably should be stating the question of Quality Control in Vw's Cars, unless it is a revenue issue. Vw can't seem to figure that one out. I still can't wait to see the microbus concept done and hope it might be so but until them let's hope that we all can keep our vehicles going as long as we can since they'll never build them like this anymore.
