| that panel was sold by a friend of mine here in NM and it was sold as a 59. I put the small palm tree on the side and even put 59 on the bottom. don't know where it all got mixed up to be a 58. good luck with the panel as it's pretty nice |

ok, i was the one with the owner the day we found it and bought it, i did alot of the work on it, like the wheel wells and beam and shit, heres the scoop. It had no m code behind seat, or vin plate in the back, just the numbers stamped to the right of engine by battery. I think it had screw holes next to the engine on passenger side where it looked like there was a plate at one time. The title the old man gave us had a long ass number for the title number, we assumed he was old and gave us the wrong title, it said 58, so we took it,thinking my buddy could just send off for a new one. Those numbers by the battery tray were way too early for that bus, but they were the only ones on there which was confusing.
Well long story short, it was inpected, the dmv put the 305993 that was stamped in back on the title and titled it as a 58. I know, number says its a late 57, which we all know its not, but thats the only number stamped on bus, so thats whay they went off of, and since the og title said 58, thats what they put on it, lol. Ive always called it a 59, thats what i think it is, but legally its a 58, it wasnt stolen or anything, just think when the old man cut and welded the vanagon rear stuff on it, he did some weird shit with the title, and unfortunately, with that being the only number, theres no way of ever knowing excatly.
Whew, with all that said, its a bullet nose panel, its cool and i cant wait to see some more pics of what you guys do to it, done good so far. Its a good bus, just needs a little tlc to be awsome, and im sure you guys will have it done in no time. Oh and yes it has a bay lid on it, we put a split apron that a buddy had laying around, but didnt have a split lid.

We worked on the steering box and loosened it up. It steers much better now. The drag link is shot and will need to be replaced. The bus came with another steering box that I may put in it. Additionally, it was raised 2 clicks so the tires don't bottom out. Changing lanes, especially from left to right is difficult. We ditched the trucker mirrors and put some roundies on it which doesn't help the driveability but does help the appearance.
