(started a duplicate thread, doh! Bringing my post here )
In my car, a 1957 Canadian Deluxe, I found a Canadian Dollar, stuck behind some old soundproof insulation / cardboard behind the battery. I wish the coin was from the 50-60s, but it's from 1987, still pretty cool find I think! I have hope to find more stuff

I'm not a sunroof user - even when I had my '57 sunroof Bug for 22 years. I did renew the cracked, discolored, didn't dare open sun roof because it had spiders living in it. One decided to web down right in front of my face while I was on the freeway doing 60 mph - scared the crap out of me.
At about the same time my then 9 year old step daughter was helping me wallboard the new bathroom and we decided to hide a weeks worth of newspapers, some marbles, and a greeting card to the possible finders on a firestop before nailing up the last sheet.
Great thread - fun reading. _________________ Mike

the things ive found interesting in my car are things like old cassettes from when my dad and uncle used to prowl the streets in this bad boy in their highschool days a bunch of old matchbooks an old first aid kit, about 5 old vw repair and maintenence books, about a dozen extra lug bolts, fire extinguisher (still good), old parts catalogs, and a really cool vintage vw keychain that i think i MISPLACED the first day i got the car and all the original accessories like jack and tools and stuff. _________________ real cars dont power the front wheels.. they lift them |

I found this safety triangle in the spare tire well of a 60 Beetle that I sold. Who knows how many previous owners have missed seeing it. The sheath it was in was rust colored and so was the bottom of the spare tire well. It is dated 11-9-1959.
Anyone have one or know anything about these?

I used to live in downtown Detroit and parked my split-window transporter in the alley across from the commercial building where I lived.
Went out early one morning to start the bus and head off to work ...
and noticed an unfamiliar "lump" in the cargo bay.
One of the wino-street-people had taken up residence for the night !
I informed him of my schedule and demanded that, in the future,
he needed to be gone by the time I intended to leave.
Since the doors of the bus could not be locked,
a place to sleep out of the weather meant
that this guy would be more reliable than any car-alarm.
He was happy to oblige.
I put an old wool blanket in the cargo bay. |

| i open the front hood expecting to see a cat, and found a live possum curled up looking quite disturbed. I slammed it and got a shovel to herd it on its way. |

I found several pairs of sunglasses, old boxers and a shirt covering the radio hole, lots of bolts and screws that don't seem to go anywhere, the creepiest spider I've ever seen, and 2 new carpet kits from JC Whitney. Considering that those are worth like $200 each, I got a pretty sweet deal on the old rust bucket. |

Bought a '63 ragtop project for $900 back in 1990, found $1700 in $20 dollar bills stashed in the driver's side door panel 6 months later when I took the panels off to replace them. Couldn't remember where the PO lived or I would have gladly returned it. _________________ .

I found the original license plate from Belgium, where the car was purchased. Plan on putting it on the car when the restore is done. _________________ 59 Euro Ragtop Build
