Hello,
There is a forum about Eriba Puck camper trailer and I thought why not set up a Westfalia Caravan/Trailer or cool camper trailer that you currently own or had. Share photos or information about your camper trailer. These are my trailers that I currently own.
1960 Westfalia 335/4 Caravan with 1965 camper bus
1964 Eriba Puck with 1965 camper bus
1960 Austermann Knospe (only 1 in America)
1967 Alpen Kreuzer (currently restoring for my 1966 bug)
Hope you will share photos of your cool camper trailer behind your VW. _________________ 1952 Ford Crestline Sunliner

Great idea for a thread!!
Here is my 1965 Apache Raven, currently behind my 2007 Passat Wagon but future plans include pulling it with my 73 RHD European Standard. The trailer weighs between 4 and 5 hundred pounds, depending on who you talk to. I haven't weighed it yet.

Cool Apache trailer. I like the looks on the rear with decals. Would look great behind any vintage VW. Hope others will share their cool vintage trailer. _________________ 1952 Ford Crestline Sunliner

I finally finished the tow hitch for my 73 RHD. I had to make the cross member for it as the seller didn't have it. Now I can tow my 1965 Apache Raven tent trailer!

From the baywindow forum:

So cool! I like the way the rig matches and do you have photos of interior? I just love vintage camper and trailer. Thanks for sharing your photos. _________________ 1952 Ford Crestline Sunliner

I just picked up a 1958 Westfalia Caravan like this one, (except mine still has the original Westfalia stamped hubcaps rather than VW caps.) The woman I bought it from owned it for the past 12 years and she ended up needing money in a hurry. Thankfully it is well-preserved. I haven't decided what to do with it just yet.

You may have to use a custom made seal. Don't be scared. Careful measurements of your axle and bearing housing will result a a well-made seal that will be just as good as original equipment. The low numbers of Westfalia Caravans that were produced lead me to believe you will have a difficult time finding your replacement seals on the shelf at your local Schuck's O'Reilly Auto Parts store, EVEN IF you did have a valid part number.
Check these guys out: http://www.technicalspecialties.com/
Some friends that build antique cars have used them with great results.

Greetings from BC Canada.
I am researching my father's Westfalia trailer that he purchased in Germany in 1960 when we lived in France. He brought it back to Canada in 1963, and then to Kelowna BC in 1964 or 65 when he retired from the Canadian Air Force. He sold it several years later to someone who spoke German because the manual was in printed in German.
Our trailer looked exactly like this one - complete with the awning (which is where we three kids slept usually.
Do you have any history of this trailer? It would be very cool if it is the same one
Thank you.
Sue
Thank you. |
