Now the K70 was originally developed not as a VW right? It was supposed to have a Winkel?

Wankel. But it was the Ro80 that had this rotary engine. The K70 was always to be a conventional piston-engined car.

NSU developed the car and was within a year of putting it in showrooms when VW bought the company. There were fears VW would drop it, which faded briefly when it went on sale rebadged as a VW. But all too soon VW dropped it and came out with their own series of watercoolers.

Too bad she's a rare bird. Imagine tubbing the rears and installing steam roller size wheels tucked under the stock bodywork. Nevermind that it's not RWD. That would confuse the tourist and make the purist crap in their tidy whities. Twisted Evil

A well preserved example...I personally would have left it all original...I hope you don't destroy that perfect front apron on a curb stop and destroy those perfect fenders with your over sized wheels...I can't look anymore...I can't believe what you did to that piece of VW history...shame on you!

VeeWee, are you a geography teacher?

I don't own a brown corduroy jacket with elbow patches and smoke a pipe. I won't be changeing it any time soon!

The front apron is still in very good condition, the front crossmember on the other hand Laughing

Very nice!
For those keeping score:

Ro80 for Rotary
K70 for Kolben (piston)

The engine and nomenclature should tell everyone that this was designed as an NSU.

Sweet 70, always had a soft spot for them. Saw yours at the VoWo show and loved it. Well done.
