Hello,
Working on a 71 super beetle, putting everything back together from leftover project from po. All wiring completed and everything works except I cannot find a electrical diagram that shows stock radio connections. Before I make it work my way would prefer to put it back the correct way. Can someone direct me to a schematic that includes the radio? Or draw me up a quick one if you know it?

Thanks
Bill

Mine has a dealer fitted radio that takes it's feed direct from a constant live on the fuse board, earth obtained through the dash cutout / contact with the radio

Assuming that you have the antenna plugged in, and speakers connected...

Yes antenna and speakers hooked up.

Does the face of the radio illuminate normally?
Is the only function of the lead connection to let you know its on?

Thanks

Depends if yours has the bonus wire for the lights (blue?), if it does the light inside comes on when the dash lights are on and the radio is switched on (dims with the lights too), if you have a single red/orange wire the light comes on whenever the radio is on, headlights on not.

Retro SOund makes Stereos that will fit your Bug. And depending on the model selected they aren't bad price either. You can click on the Banner above right corner to check them out.
