or, to phrase it sunny side up, there is a 70% chance of no rain at all on Saturday for the First annual Silver Falls Westyfest Samba campout.
This campground and event is now full, thanks to all those who preregistered.
If you want to come and have yet to tell me, feel free to show up, but I cannot guarantee that you will be able to camp in the group site. You may have to sleep in the regular campground a few miles away.

to phrase it even more sunny side up, Weather Underground is now saying 80% chance of no rain on Saturday. Doesn't look like this will be a wet event. _________________ Michael in PDX

Looking forward to meeting up with everyone. We probably won't be getting there until the potluck on Saturday. See you then. _________________ '91 Westy Tiico 2WD |

Just finished cleaning the fresh water tank and filling partway. Few odds and ends from the grocery store, dusted off the camp chairs, and we're pretty much ready to hit the road after work/school tomorrow. See you guys mañana. _________________ '85 Westy

What are you going to ponder, I assume you bought it since it is in your sig? Are you bringing it to Silver Falls?
Does it have a rear locker? Was the trans rebuilt?
Is it a converted westy? Ive never seen a brown top on a white van and you mentioned improperly installed utility covers. |
It is a true Syncro Westy, Rear locker, all 4WD components gone through and replaced in the past 8 years, including trans. Rear locker has replacement pin but pin likely needs to just be pulled and cleaned. Runs like a champ and I will bring it to Silver Falls tonight. It was originally a dark brown color and has had 2 not so hot repaints, so, it is a perfect candidate for roll it as is and not worry about little dings and bruises. My 91 on the other hand, was really nice and got a really sweet and unexpected love tap at SS and my heart is still broken. I have it listed on TS and CL and am hoping to sell it as is so I do not have to deal with fixing it. I have priced it accordingly and we will see what happens.
Got some home chores to do this afternoon when I wake up, but, hoping to get out there @6ish. We will see. I am really camped out and travelled out
| FrankenSubySyncro wrote: | | Carterzest, will you be back from Moab on Saturday? That is a long haul for a few days of camping. How long did take to get there? I would like to go next year. It took me 14 hours to get to Hollister. |
yes back from Moab and did not really keep much track of time. First night was to Ontario, Oregon @ 6 hours, where we dropped the kiddies with the Grandparent's, then the next day we made it to Green River, UT...that was about @12 hour jaunt, then next day the last hour into Moab @ 1 hour. So, it was about 19 hours split over three days, two days on the way back. It was a grind on the way back because of the headwinds we encountered, but, worth it for sure (more later ).
Hoping to see you all tonight(unless it is a rainout, cuz my blood is still too thin from Southern Utah )... keep that fire burning for a brother!

Having fun?
I know that not *everyone* went to this thing -- saw a sweet burgundy Tristar yesterday at the Oregon Electric Railway Museum outside Salem. |

That's gotta be the same Tristar I've seen on my last two trips to Salem. Very nice rig _________________ --Casey

Nice work Climber John! A very nice campout this weekend at Oregon's Silver Falls State Park.
I've posted a couple dozen photos on Picasa. Mostly around the firepit before the potluck.
Here are a couple of teasers to whet your visual appetite.

Yes, thanks John for setting this up, we had a great time! Beautiful location, great people, and a good family oriented vibe. Thanks and I'll look to see you all around.

Great time. Wish I could have made it out Friday night...
Wife and Daughter were a last minute add on and, in all the extra packing and commotion, I FAILED to bring diapers for my girl. Thanks for the diapers
My iPhone pics suck, but, here we go
Thank Gos I also brought a real camera. Wish I would have used it last night
Got the 91 washed up and sold it to the first person who looked at it. WOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTT!!!!!!
I hate this feeling of emptiness when you let a really good van go....luckily, I have a few more days to drool over my old van while I continue to drool over my new van.
Now, if I can just carefully salvage my NW Mogfest Stickers that the nice lady does not want I will be golden.
Good Job on the great spot CJ. It was awesome to finally get the wife and kids out to one of these, even if it meant that I hardly slept a wink _________________ Jeffrey Carter ~o~ PDX Thread ~o~NWMF2013

Looks like the time was great at Silver Falls.
It was tempting and a turn was nearly made towards the gathering, but we chose to find the sunshine. Today we ended up in Brookings. The old rig is running splendid and loaded for good times. Got some kayaking, biking and hiking plus a dose of major sunshine!
Check out what we did today at the YouTube link below.
Cheers,

Plaza Lake sounds like fun. I bet there are some other 4wd trails around there too that we could explore in my syncro. _________________ 1987 Syncro (converted 2WD auto)
