X2!

Was so sad to read your last post and thought that frustration claimed another hobbiest. Looking forward to reading your posts.

And welcome back to your running bus!

Hello Dan! I'm glad your bus works. It's been a while. Was it tranny problems that did you in? happy to see you again.

Is it Mr or Ms Dan?

Hey all,

It's Mister Dan, flying solo now.

In absurdly beautiful southern Utah for the spring/summer/part of fall. Bus' maiden voyage- 1100 miles without a single problem, not a drop of oil consumed.
It's running cool as a cucumber. Not much to look at but it's certainly a nice runner.

The new transmission- all the best parts of five old boxes, built by a fellow back in TX- is working very nicely.
The old trans was completely shot- even the case was beyond saving.

I thought it wise to slap a mea culpa on the back so nobody'd get too cheesed off at my gradual progress.

This thing climbs ridiculous grades without any drama and makes SUVs feel bad about themselves, plus it's just the best camping vehicle around. It's home!

Nice to be back here- missed it.

Thank you. It took a surprising amount of deliberation to settle on those bad boys.

You may be surprised what a light vehicle can traverse with 2wd and an limited slip differential. Just think of all those class 11 bugs doing Baja... That said, I'm not going to attempting Pritchett or Moab Rim. Smile

What about installing a hydraulic steering brake? If you get stuck, it can help get out.
