always have... never really cared for the way they look, in any finish... I don't understand the love affair with 'em... they're so tired and played out, I just get sick of seein' 'em on every damn car... the Iozzio 17" copies are decent, but I'm still not feelin' 'em...
I don't hate 'em as much as Empi 8-spokes though, those things are trash...
I'll probably get flamed for this opinion, but I know I can't be the only one that can't stand the damn things... _________________ you can find me under a Dub...

Everyone has an opinion, there are certain wheels I dislike too....
I have OG Cosmics on my Notch and I get both positive and negative feedback on them. _________________ '65 Notchback

original early fuchs are crazy beautiful. the top, imo. & it's due to this that they are everywhere. the quality, the curves, the widths, the offset, the black detailing. Klie is the man
& second is the original BRM
i'll agree with you on the 8spokes _________________ -StockRocks- |

as far as vintage style goes, I like the BRMs and Sprints... I like stock steelies on some rides... my Bug has stockers right now, but I have a set of 18" chrome wheels for it that I'm gonna have refinished differently, it's gonna be a kinda modified German Look... both my Buses have stockers, but I got a set of black steel 15's from a late model VW for each of 'em for now... I like all kinda various styles, my biggest Fuch beef is just how overly used they are... I really don't think they're a "universal" cool wheel... my former stepdad had a 944 Turbo with 'em, black with polished rims, and it looked good... _________________ you can find me under a Dub...

"played out" is relative. You spend a lot of time looking at VWs and think they're common. Most people don't see that many anymore and think they're cool. I read the same comment about chrome stock rims on here a few weeks ago.
Since I have been playing with different ideas on my new bug I have asked a few friends what they think, and almost universally "Those Porsche rims" are a hit.
That said I'm think I'm staying stock, but only because I'm a cheap bastard.... |

They only appear played out because you spend so much time on the Interweb looking at pictures of ACVW's and whatdo'ya know??? Fuchs are popular wheels simply becuase the mentioned reasons in a post above. They are hands down the finest wheel available in all aspects for the VW. As far as the best for everyone, not exactly, but they are heat forged and asthetically pleasing. Light weight + strong, with proper offsets and high shined or detailed, nothing they can't be.
Now, drive around town or even into another state and count how many ACVW's you see with Fuchs. Not too played out now, are they?
I respect your voice and agree they are eveywhere, but I don't think any wheel is played out when eveyone with said wheels have what "they" think is cool.
Rock on! |

most hate em because they cannot afford them IMHO..
oh, i do not have em, but rims are such a personal choice,....
run what makes your blood pump.
run what makes your ride pimp.
or for the non fuch people,..run what your wallet can support.
the patina/rat look is more played out in my book then any fuch rim. _________________ Frank

I love them too and almost bought a set of OG ones including a pair of deep 7's..chickene'd out at the last minute for the same reason, everyone seems to run them these days...can't imagine a GFK car without them though What annoys me is when people refer to them as being rare, they're not, there is always a set of OG ones for sale somewhere at anytime, (OG BRM's are rare!)..just gotta pay to play _________________ I love TheSamba, nothing else like it!

They're amazing, so light, strong, and sexy. If you don't like them then... okay, cool? I really don't care what you think and I'll second the fact that looking on the internet a bunch you see them. But go to car shows and they're more common on Porsches. BTW, I got 'em but mine are late 16's with the black centers. _________________ http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=366056 - My '73 Super Build. 2332cc, 16" Fuchs |

I like them, but i agree that they are totaly played out. I sold my OG set of 4,5's and deep 6's to Japan, but I kept my Porsche Magnesium GT's and my Porsche JP's. They are not so common... |

You don't like fuchs because they're played, but you like brm's and
sprints...
You see how many cars rock brm's?...seriously.

I don't like Fuch's, and ONE reason is how played they are... not the ONLY reason... if you read more closely you'd see that FIRST I stated I've never cared for the looks of 'em... I prefer the look of BRMs and Sprints, but I do agree they're played as well... unfortunately there just aren't THAT many options for custom wheels that will bolt right up on our rides, which is why I'm goin' the route I'm goin' with mine... _________________ you can find me under a Dub...

| I now agree with you.....based on the cars you have in your signature, it would be a disgrace to waste a set of Fuchs on them. |
