It's a roller. It's been a while since I've updated, and during the last year there may have been a couple months I didn't do anything to it, but I finally have it on all 4 wheels again.

I also built a dolly to set the body on so I have more room to work on the engine. I had to remove the shifter for clearance, otherwise I wouldn't be able to roll it under the garage door.

Nosebleed status right thar!

Now my attention is turning to getting the engine back together. I pulled the heads to clean up the sealing surfaces and reseal the pushrod tubes. I got the 3-4 side done, but split a PS tube seal, so haven't pulled the other side yet. I have everything I need though to finish it up. The oil pump cover, some tins and the valve covers are soaking in degreaser to clean them up for paint.

Painting and installing tin. I still need to paint the shroud and front & rear tins. Carb and distributor are off to Keith this week. Intake, exhaust and heater boxes go to media blast too.

I like this shot as it shows the tunnel created by the rear tin and sled.

It runs!
I finally got the engine all put together and installed. The first time, I spun it around just for kicks and it stopped solid. Going backwards it stopped again, put only about 270 degrees away. I pulled the engine back out and there looks to be some sort of balance weights on the pressure plate. Two of them were hitting the bell housing. I clearanced it with a dremel and air grinder.
Wired up a box with two switches (one for ignition, other for starter) and two lights (generator and oil pressure) and hooked it all up.
Poured in some cheap 10w-30, 8 ounces of Rislone engine flush and 4 ounces of STP oil treatment. Used a cup to fill the carb bowl and fired it off.
Keith's rebuild was spot on. It puffed to life after clearing out the extra fuel I dumped down the intake and idled until it went dry.
Once I primed the pump and filled the bowl back up, I started it again and fuel started pissing out of just about every opening on the pump. All 6 screws and the top. I changed the oil at this point while I took the pump off and saw the fuel was also running into the crankcase. I tightened all the screws and put it back on. This time it was worse, now fuel was pouring out of the vent hole too, all over my freshly painted tin.
The pump was freshly rebuilt using WW's kit, and it was preloaded properly before tightening everything down. I had read recently that the top spring in the kit is garbage and to use the old one. I wish I had read that 6 months ago when I rebuilt it.
So from OEVeedub is coming a new 40hp pump, and from WW some other small parts and a pair of seatbelts, as I plan on driving the pan up and down the road within the next two weeks. I need to find out if the transmission is good.
At least it's not pissing oil.
Pics tomorrow.

Finally finished with the pan. I got my distributor and carb back from Keith, got a fuelpump from OEVeeDub (more on that in a minute), so threw some seats in it yesterday and drove the kids around the neighborhood for an hour or so. The pan doesn't fit under the body with the seats and shifter in it, so that's why it's bare now.

Doesn't look like the original, right? The biggest problem with this pump is that instead of the OG pump's outlet being horizontal, this one is vertical, which after bending the pipe to the carb for it to fit, now makes the throttle arm hit it at anything over about 3/4 throttle. So I'll have to get rid of the pipe all together. I'm debating doing a 12v alt conversion anway, so that may push me to do it.

How'd I start it? I built this ignition box with parts from Radio Shack. The switch on the left is ignition, the one on the right is for the starter. It even has generator and oil pressure lights.

Finally, a couple cell pics from driving it around. Style!

Things to fix.
The replacememnt accelerator pedal I got from WW sucks. It's already bent and won't actuate the throttle correctly. And the driver's side rear wheel seal leaks out the weep hole, so I'll have to pull it back apart and do it again.

Haven't touched it since. I'm on a time/money limited budget, so at this point I'm saving up for paint and body.
The red shocks are simply painted, oil shocks I got from CIP-1.

Not for sale. That lasted about 5 minutes.
The only thing I've done to it since the last update was replace the passenger (don't know why I said driver earlier) wheel seal... eventually. After 3 times taking that side apart and replacing the o-rings only, I finally replaced the seal again and no more leaks. I got some fiberglass fenders for the front.
Oops, got a cruiser pedal from Russ too. Smile Roller pedal is from WW.

It's too damn hot here during the summer to work on it. I also hate, hate, HATE bodywork, so I have that against me as well.
Hopefully in the next month or so I'll get back out there and start getting the underside ready so I can at least put the body back on the pan.

I want Beryl Green, I know that much. And that will contrast the wheels. Whether it actually gets that color is another story.
