Nobody around here has any mild uncoated steel excepts Lowes.
Those are pretty small and expensive. The local sheetmetal shops only
carry galvinized steel sheet.Looking for place to order some from. Thanks

I have always just bought 18 gauge galvanized steel sheet. Welds in fine. You can always just do a acid wash if you want to paint it. Use a good fan when welding on galvanized steel.

If you have a Tractor Supply near where you live you might want to try them for the sheet metal.

There are three TS Stores near me keep and they all keep a good selection of sheet metal in various gauge thickness and panel sizes.

For future reference you might check out heating and air conditioning places. I used to work at one in high school.
They get the sheet metal in 4'x8' sheets and tend to have a lot of extra scraps. We had a scrap box and they would
give away pieces for cheap or free depending on the size.

Yeah my dads a retired sheetmetal worker and i watched and learned from him over the years and know it pretty good. All the sheetmetal shops have in steel is galvanized and paint grip and i hate welding galvanized. It don't weld pretty and stinks, gives ya a headache.I would rather use uncoated mild steel like the bodys is made of.I got what i need it was just pricey.I have all kinds of metal working tools, metal brake (bender),mig welder, gas welder.I can also solder and have huge solder irons you heat on big fire pots. When all the stuff i been or4drering online shows up its going to get very busy out in the shop.
