haha, i ought to say my old job was doing body work at a vintage restoration shop for race cars. i quit that job, and now im a collision center. i do trim work now. body work can suck a nut sometimes, but other times its pretty fun.
i meant to say we all get hookups in one way or another in my last post. _________________ "In case I don't see you, good afternoon , good evening, and goodnight."

well the buggy is on hold for awhile. i ripped all the wiring out and now she sits. i took it down to my father in laws for a couple weeks to store in a shed. i am pooring concrete in my lean to and boxing it in. while doing this im not going to have my buggy sittin out in the weather. when im done i will have a 22X14 shop with insulated walls, lots of outlets, and best of all a concrete floor to work on!! i havent had a shop that could fit a car in it since about 2007. _________________ My build thread:

thanks phil! i just bought a very good tool for the new shop!!! an old highschool buddy wanted to sell his welder so i picked it up off of him. he bought it and never used it. it is a brand new CMT 135G MIG welder. 220 volt. has gas hookup as well!! they arent a terribly expensive welder new ($230) i picked this one up for $130! i cant wait to have the shop done and have a welder at my finger tips any time i want one. my next big purchase is going to be a torch set. we have one at work i might buy for $500 completely set up cart and all. _________________ My build thread:

dude youre getting hookups everywhere. i asked my dad how much a decent lil welder would cost me. he said like 3K. but, in my dads defense, hes aerospace welder certified. he can weld Titanium, magnesium, aluminum, steel, plastic, lol so hes really picky. that S.O.B is way too good at what he does. _________________ "In case I don't see you, good afternoon , good evening, and goodnight."

if a guy was going to weld up complete frames and stuff he would need a nicer welder. this thing is going to do anything i need and more. i bet your old man makes a good living welding all that stuff!! i have used my buddys little welder for all my little things. its just like mine only a smaller 110. i really like his, and was going to buy one like that till this deal came up. _________________ My build thread:

yeah, thats great. i wish i had a welder. they sure do come in handy. i think you got off better with the 220 over his 110.
heres a list of what he does. get ready: machinist by trade. welder, as stated. mechanical engineer (ME). composite engineer(he does CF, designs tooling systems for it, does molds. lays. the whole shebang). ME design engineer(uses Solid Works). he also writes the CNC. everything is self taught. what a freak hahaha. it can be intimidating at times.
Edit: also used to be aerospace precision metal fabricator (every imaginable tool used for metal, he can use.) _________________ "In case I don't see you, good afternoon , good evening, and goodnight."

i havent been working on it lately. its down at my father in laws in the shed while i build the new shop. i got the concrete poured wednesday night. i am working at the local parts store on saturdays. this is my 5th one in a row. i get all my parts at cost and i just put all my wages on my bill i have been spending more than i make though they dont care though they live right across the street and been my neighbors for 7 years. its great cause now i have a key to the store and can get anything anytime. i bought a welding helmet, plug, outllet, gloves and a roll of flux core wire. im just going to run flux core until i get a gas bottle. i hope to frame up the walls for the shop next weekend. the tin should be in by then to. _________________ My build thread:

Man, you and your hookups. shit.
That sounds like a bad combo working at the kinda hookup shop putting your payroll on credit like that. soon you'll bury yourself deep. watch out How much longer do you expect your new shed/work area to take till completion? _________________ "In case I don't see you, good afternoon , good evening, and goodnight."

haha i looked at your pic of the cherry picker on a sheet of plywood i bet that sucked really bad!!! i just got all the wood delivered today so we are going to frame it up this weekend. if we do good we might get the tin on it to. im not to worried about racking myself in debt with my neighbor. i spend about as much as i make right now. it sure does make a difference as well with that much of a discount parts stores make good money!! there is alot of markup on stuff. if all goes well i will have everything moved in and going in the shop in 2 weeks. if we get the walls up and tin on this weekend then next weekend i will insulate it and put the blandex up _________________ My build thread:

well the shop is DONE!! my father came down for a week and worked on it every day for me. last weekend we got it framed up, tin on, ceiling insulated and plywooded. then my dad finished it all up. now i have a 14x22 fully insulated shop! it has a 14 ft work bench on one wall. it also has a very nice airconditioner! (most important part) i just got the buggy home tonight so i can start working on it again! progress should be very good now that i have a decent work enviroment. i hope to order the high torque starter as soon as i pay for the last little stuff dad had to charge for the shop. i have all the stuff for the rewiring so i can get started on that. i wish i had this shop when i had this badboy taken apart _________________ My build thread:

this is what i have done now. i did away with the turning brake and re ran the brake lines. i also ran a brake line clear to the back to put the throttle cable in. im going to make an aluminum piece to cover up the hole in front of the shifter. that is probably where im going to mount the fire extinguisher.
my welder ended up being a POS! it doesnt work at all and i dont know how to fix it. im done with crappy no named welders. i ordered one tonight from the snap on man. i know i know its terribly expensive but it comes with a 2 year warrenty and i can buy it on payments. it should be a very nice unit. 125 amp 110 volt welder. it has gas hookup to if i decide to use it.
as soon as i get a welder going im going to make the dash in front of my wheel and mount the gauges there. _________________ My build thread:

well i made some pregress tonight after work. i brought home a brake line bender and made some new fuel lines. now it doesnt have kinks in the line to the carb and has steel instead of rubber hose from the tank to the pump. i might redo the one from the tank to the pump so i can put a inline filter on it that screws together like on a car. right now i have a 2 in rubber off the tank, then a steel filter, then 2 in. rubber then steel to the pump. i junt want it to be bullet proof
i re brushed the floor to clean it up and bolted it back up. then i marked out some holes and drilled some big ones so sand has an easy place to escape. i dont have the drivers side done yet because my drill battery died. i will finish it this weekend.
this is the best shot i could get of the new shop with the buggy in it. im really pleased in how it turned out. i just wish that damn welder would show up i did score a torch set yesterday i have been selling some of my boss's stuff on Craigslist for him. and he gave me a torch set for my commision. its used but works fine. it came with 2 full bottles, striker, 3 tips, 2 wheel cart, and fancy wrench to take the stuff apart. the hoses are about 40 feet long
im going to order a new throttle cable tonight so i can get that part put back together. then its all about wiring it back up _________________ My build thread:
