Well - Posted earlier - still buying and still happy - They are still one of my 2 preferred vendors and I highly recommend them. Crap happens every once in a while with any supplier.

And the stuff on the sheet metal - almost all of the new stuff that everyone sells is pretty crappy and requres work to make it fit - and that is not just VWs - talk to anybody that works in a body shop and ask how well panels fit from any of their suppliers. Once they are able to talk after laughing uncontrollably for 10 minutes or more, you may get enlightened.

I understand its not "PLUG-N-PLAY" Rolling Eyes BUT there was no F@#&* way to tweak these, did you look at the pictures? #Bad Talk
It's a free country - you can buy their shit and put up with thier "LIP SERVICE" if you choose, I just wanted to share my dissapointment and if you read this entire post, there are many more negative than positive remarks. Like I said, the WW doglegs were lightyears ahead in quality and fit Not talking

OK - I understand and WW is my "other" preferred vendor. Problem is that a lot of times it seems that everyone has the exact same parts. But not always and I understand that. And what really bites is that one time you can get a really nice piece and the next time, its rough - and this is true from most of the suppliers. I totally understand your frustration - been there.....(still am on occasion)

What really pissed me off was not the product so much as the way they handle issues, you can read it it this post over and over, their answer to a quality issue isn't "we'll take care of it" it's "YOU DEAL WITH IT" Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

placed my first order with CIP1 a few weeks ago, took advantage of the free shipping (10-14 day i believe) option, it only took a week to arrive. everything was as it should. some parts were from wolfsburg west which i thought was funny (thought they woud re-box it or something Laughing ). Very easy and smoothe transaction. never even had to call them, did it all online. the package was packed ok. I personally would have used a little more packing material (shredded paper, newspaper, etc.), but everything came undamaged so i'm happy. but a few of my friends have said that some parts they've ordered have come damaged (which CIP1 did take care of in a fast professional manner), so i would suggest using a little more packing material. anyhoo, i will definately be placing many more orders with them in the near future. Many thanks Very Happy

I am very displeased my recent purchase. I bought this for my Bus.
http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=VWC-211-201-119

According to cip,
Quote:

These are the genuine O.E. volkswagen replacement filler neck seal which has been unavailable for years- until now. This is the seal at the top of the filler neck as it comes up to the gas cap. Fits all Bus or Van from 1974 to 1979 with the outside gas cap. Does not work on earlier models with the outer gas door

The part is indeed not an OE VW part. The thickness of the outer flange is 1/3 the thickness of stock. Also it is missing the inner splashback valve. l
I called cip and questioned why they describe this as "OE Volkswagen"

they replied,
Quote:
Made in Germany-the best one we have

I pointed out that "Made In Germany, The best one we have" does not equal OE.

They asked what I wanted from them. I wanted what I paid for, a correct part. I don't even care if it isn't OE, so long as it's the correct thickness and has the splashback valve like original.
They said they couldn't. So I said fine, I'll eat the cost of this part and ask that you please stop saying these are OE.
Very Happy
It could be that this is all that's available these days.
If anyone knows where I can get the right one., I'd be interested.
This one is hokey.

I have seen this issue even with parts for newer cars. I've replaced parts on my '02 Passat, etc, that are purchased from the VW dealer and are NEW OE replacement parts, but they will sometimes be "thinner" and "weaker" IMO (one of the trunk latches was this way, which to me means it may not be as strong/durable).

I'm not saying that your particular part should be acceptable to you "as is"...but it is common in an OE part to "change" down the years (especially for a vehicle that is over 30 years old).

In some cases, the only way to get the exact replacement (same thickness, etc) would be to get NOS OEM parts...

Bought a 1/4 pan from them. To say I'm disappointed would be the understatement of the century. Waiting to see if they deal with it, or if I'm left to deal with it.

PS I don't think Brazil should make a damn thing for export.

#Fist CIP-! I bought a set of doglegs for my 62 bus from CIP-1 and they were total shit! They are a 4 piece construction, poorly assembled, and don't come anywhere close to fitting. There was a 3/4" gap between the edge of the door and dogleg on the downward sloping section - no way to tweak that. I had a WW dogleg on it and it fit perfectly, except that it was a thick lip and my late 62 actually had thin lips so had to change it. A product that poorly manufactured is defective in my book, but CIP says it's not - obviously they haven't tried to install one of these POS! They won't refund the frieght which they over charged for. It cost me $34 to send it back, they charged me almost twice that to ship to me Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Embarassed DON"T deal with them if you want quality and service Shame on you #Bad Talk

Wow! I'm from Argentina. I'm scary about it, i bought a pair and now just saw this... tomorrow i'm going to withdraw the package from a deliver deposit here. It's strange because yours says made in Brazil, i also thought they was Brazilian made, but i saw in site they say "Our European supplier of this part has taken it upon themselves to re-work the old tooling for this item...". Plus I asked to a brazilian shop, and they told me IGP are no longer making it. I'm confused...

Imagine how much i'll piss off if i see this don't fit! can't return it, or cost one million dollars to send it back Razz
Anyway, tomorrow will come angry or happy... with some pics. Confused

It was cool to read the input on my complaint. So far it's just as I figured. Most input was positive to CIP, although you notice they didn't have a problem. However when a customer starts to have a problem and expecially when the problem is larger they fail to deliver.

This was my experience too so I thought I'd be O.K. Then a catastrophe happened and they ran the other way. Just to give you guys a hint, they told me they were not going to ship the flywheel back to the Malasian vendor until they had a bulk shipment ready (came down from upper management). Sense any attitude here?

My dealings with them on a midmadnagement level have been been pretty good although they seem a little embarrased when they have to deliver the draconian decisions of ownership higher management. The guy/guys that run CIP are scumbags.

The question for a purchaser is: What do they do when there's a big problem, say like a run of defective parts....Oh we can't help you, we've shipped you a replacement once. So the distributor mnfg says we'll replace it. The intended contract with CIP is you ship me a quality part. If they don't it's CIP's problem. What happens when CIP has a jobber mnfg. the part. The jobber doesn't give a damn and neither does CIP.

Buying from CIP is purchasing at you're own risk escpecially when there anything that results in substantial consequenses to CIP's ownners/administrators. The only vote we have as customers is to not do business with scumbags.

Has anyone bought any floorpans, heater channels, or any other sheet metal from them? They seem comparable to WW in price, but are in stock. And they have higher quality heater channels according to their website.

CIP1 sells several different qualities of pan and body metal. Did you cheap out and go with the 2 star or get the good stuff?

I have always had great transactions with cip1.com including full pans, door pillars, front apron, and about a grand in other parts Very Happy

Two months ago I bought the cheaper ($189) carpet kit for my 74 bus. I knew the quality wouldn't be great, but this is unacceptable.

First, there is a seam right across the middle of the cabin floor. The seam has both sides tucked under, so it's raised and looks horrible. They contacted the manufacturer, and this is by design. I say that should be in their ad cause most people wouldn't accept this.

Secondly, the advertisement says this is a 10 piece kit, but I only got 8 pieces. The small pieces that go on the backs of the driver/passenger seats were not included. They wanted me to send a picture, which i did. Waited weeks and they said they got the replacement from the company, but got the wrong ones. They tried again, and were sent directly to me. Wrong ones again. They contacted the manufacturer who said they don't include those pieces in the kit anymore.

I installed a couple pieces because I was sure I would get them. They were in the picture and description, right? Because I installed them, I can't get a refund.

I'm ripping this crap out and buying something from someone else. Have to eat the $200 loss.

So unless you don't need those pieces and like the seam across the floor, I'd pass on this. Very dissapointed in their service.

Also checked yesterday and the ad still has the picture and description of being a 10 piece set, though they've known for a couple of weeks that this is incorrect.

I have no negatives to say about their tech help or their parts, or packaging. The shipping on my past few orders was 10 days , that's ridiculous. I would expect 2-3 day shipping on small orders. I wish you guys would add USPS priority shipping to your shipping list. My only complaint is slow and expensive shipping....

since it's October cip 1 is having 20 % off sale right now. prices have gone up in the last 2 years (looks like 20 % ....) anyway I order a tmi carpet kit (salt & pepper) but some one beat me to the only one left . Cip 1 says that we both had it in our shopping cart at the same time. They called on Tuesday 10/18 to say if I want to wait for another kit, It would take tmi to make one (about a week) then they would mail it from the factory to me....I said sure,,,,, I got it (the carpet kit) at my house on Thursday 10/20 , the tmi factory is only 15 minutes away from my house !!!!! I guess they had one made already....LOL.
