I just received the birth certificate for my 67 Bus. My Bus came all the way from St Louis, Mo to Sacramento, Cal. It is going to be 44 years old on the 24th of Feb. |

I just ordered mine. It's now $48.55.
I wonder how much this also helps the museum? With all the request they get an idea how many VWs are still in circulation and where they are located. _________________ 1978 Delux Campmobile

I have a question about my '67. It says that the destination for it was Reserve, USA. Does anyone know what that means?
'67 Bug and '73 Bus certificate:

I got an email today from an employee at the museum. My initial email asked her to clarify what Reserve, USA meant. This was her email:
"Dear Mr --------,
The name "Reserve USA" means a Town or City in USA for military or so"
Regards
Ros---- Hen---
Stiftung AutoMuseum Volkswagen
Dieselstraße 35

She said she will clarify this on Monday and let me know.
Does this sound correct? |
I got an email yesterday about this. This is what she wrote:
Dear Mr.--- ,
We thank you for your e-mail.
After new researches in our records and expert advise with our colleagues we mean your opinion may be also right. There are different towns with the name but better is perpaps yours, because buying a car in the USA is a little bit different than Germany/Europe. The US customer perfer the car at the dealer (instead to order a car), a store of cars in the USA would be mean with "Reserve USA".
If you have further questions you're welcome.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen aus dem AutoMuseum
i.A. Gerolf ---
Basically, they are unable to confirm if "Reserve, USA" meant that the car was stored somewhere in the USA until it was needed -OR- if it meant that the car was shipped to a Military reserve base in the USA.
If it were stored in the US somewhere, where would it be kept? Did VW have a place to store the cars here until needed? | Same as mine..I found the "reserve" destination annoying to say the least that is the main reason I sent for it in the first place to try to find out what dealer it went to. _________________ 67 Convertible July 67 Yukon Yellow

Actually $72.44 to be exact plus Citi charges $2.17 for a foreign transaction fee.
And I got 2. One for my 55, one for my 61. My 55 bug was built on 6/23/55 and left on 6/25/55 for Paris, France. Color was not listed and only that it had a 30 DIN-PS, 1.2 liter and the M018 larger reflector in brake/indicator light, M124 yellow headlights and safety rear view mirror.
My 61 vert was built 10/26/60 and left 10/27/60. Color is listed as "* blue" and down below says L 390 Gulf Blue. Car went to San Francisco which confirms everything I knew from the 1st and 2nd owners. Came with M128 white wall tires, M358 US -equipment, M557 upholstery leatherette Light Beige, and M570 Top Texas Brown. |

Just got mine today, took exactly 14 days from the time I filled out the form to the time it arrived in the mailbox.
Built on: 21 February 1956 vs. Left Factory on: 12 March 1956
What exactly happened between those two dates, final assembly/finish/paint or vehicle sitting and waiting for transportation? _________________ Florida Camping (GVC)

Mine was built 12 March 1956 and shipped on the 14 March 1956, only two days later.
Maybe they had bad snow delaying previous weeks shipments. |

Cheaper than if you want to get one for a Porsche, those can be as much as $116 including postage (there's a few deducts available based on age, club membership, etc).

I am adding this here, as I was requested to do...
Just to add to this thread. VW Museum also way off on my GeburtsUhrKunde as well. My car is a 64' (December 63' production) and is/was Ruby Red. Yes, it still has the paint sticker under the hood.
My Cert. from VW Museum stated that my car was produced in 65', was grey, and had a sunroof. Way off. As it shows in the data base here; Bug's produced after Aug/64 had Vin#'s starting with 115, while my car begins with 600####.
I have sent them a detailed letter today. I'll post my experience as to what happens next. I also have relatives in Germany that will follow up for me if I get no response. We'll see.... _________________ Auch aus Steinen, die in dem Weg gelegt werden, kann Mann etwas schoenes bauen. - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe |

I just felt it appropriate to inform you all that Wolfgang Doerk from Stiftung AutoMueum has replied to an email I sent and had my corrected VW Birth Cert sent to me.
I mailed the incorrect one back with a letter in English, then followed it up with an email in German. I do not know which one caused him to be notified, however...they did respond and that's that.
Here is a picture of my proper doccu...

Odd there is no day shown for when built in December. Did you block it out differently than the vehicle ID number? Also left factory designation on others shows a date and not the model year |

At least they have the right car. I know, they may have rushed this thing or they just have a poor data base. I don't really have an answer. Their emails to me were merely asking me to explain how my first Cert was incorrect.
Seemingly, to me, they have very little knowledge about old Beetles. I will be there later this year and - if I have time - I will visit this Museum and try to ask some pointed questions.
The good thing was that they did confirm that I have the original engine case that was delivered with the car. (Although I was quite sure on my own)
If I find out anything I can share with all the Samba members I will. _________________ Auch aus Steinen, die in dem Weg gelegt werden, kann Mann etwas schoenes bauen. - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe |

kreissig ,
For the money they charged, they need to provide you with a correct certificate will all date in it's place. Send them a copy of yours and insist they re do it in the right format. You deserve a proper correct certificate. |

M 002 US-equipment would be for a 1974 Ghia coupe? Thanks, Art |

This sounds like the HOLY GRAIL of VWs! Imagine if it's still there, untouched in over 40 years! I'm freaking out! _________________ Daniel
