What should I use on the seals around the windows to keep them in good shape?

Do a search in the bay window section, there was quite a debate about all the alternatives. Seems there was no clear winner.

One of my wife's relatives has a 1997 car with the original wiper blades. He attributes the long life to regularly (every 2 weeks or so) applying regular household ammonia to the rubber blades.

It has worked for him and I am about to start using it. Has any of you heard of this use for ammonia before? Thanks.

I started using regular transmission oil on my rubber seals around windows, etc. It works. Got the hint from the people at my paint and body shop. Try it.
