I transported the pan from JerFab and got it to the powder coaters, here it is blasted however my powder coat guy isn't happy with the results so its getting sent back for more blasting...tack on a couple more days, but well worth it in order to have a well done pan.

My collection of powder coated pieces is growing...I'm still waiting on Jerry from JerFab to finish my beam and dropped spring plates. My original steering box is now getting rebuilt as well, many people advised me of getting a newer unit however I really like to incorporate/retain as many original pieces of the cars drivetrain as possible.
***Anyone got (2 or 3) 1954 date stamped 5 lug wheels OR rear inspection cover for sale???? I need them!!!!***

Thank's Rich ... Just trying to stick to the formula that you and the rest of the GFK have set... Smoot came over and checked out the body the other day... Looks like it's gonna be dropped off with him as soon as I get the pan rolling and get the body's few welding issues addressed by Jerry. _________________ ~Steven G.~

I finally got my pan back today...The powder coater did an AMAZING job...really was careful with the threads, and open holes into the tunnel avoiding sand exposure...even taped off both the vin tag on the center tunnel and drivers front brake line bracket. Just waiting on Jerry with the narrowed beam and dropped spring plates. In the mean time this week I'll be installing the trans and running all the brake lines after the Jamboree when I get my pedal assembly back from Scott from Pedal Works.

Thanks! Let me tell ya, it wasn't easy...but it fit nice and snug without any damage to the pan or van. All the hard dirty work on the bottom half is done, fun part on assembly is next than it's off to tackle the body!!! _________________ ~Steven G.~

It's been a while since I posted some update pictures of the 54. Worry NOT, she's still being worked on and things are moving along pretty good...the pan is just about done. If you notice EVERY original bolt has been restored and reinstalled.
The brake switch WILL be switched out for the correct early screw terminal type...it's in the mail!

I'm curious, so you're putting a split part on your oval? Do you have a split decklid you're using? Why not go with a stock oval decklid. Just wondering.
Beautiful work so far. |
