Thought they were gone.

We I was 15 or 16 I put a can of sterno out with my hand.
The problem was I waited too long and the edge was very hot.
As soon as my hand hit it the can stuck to me like meat on the grill.
I still remember the sound!
If I had just done it right after my buddy lit it,
rather than looking at it for 30 or so seconds
while I got my courage up everything would have been fine.

Okay, this goes back a ways. I checked the tightness of my plug and coil wires............with the engine running. Was not having a problem, just had busy hands, I guess.
Plug wires were good, but the coil wire pulled out of the cap. Felt like somebody was smacking my thumb with a hammer for what felt like a minute. The engine finally died (not soon enough) and I had a tingly feeling for a little while. Lucky I didn't jump back and fracture my skull on something. Embarassed

I once pulled the plug wire off a briggs and stratton motor to kill it. The problem was it was not an insulated plug end and the other hand was holding on to the chassis... which was grounded. Shocked
ive done this to i was maybe 12 Laughing never do that again

back in High School...

I kept blowing a fuse in the beetle so I used a penny and melted down the turn signal switch. The problem was the hazard switch...

I didn't clear all the frost off the Bug's windshield before driving. I turned into the rising sun and all I could see was orange glare on the frost. moments later I peeled a fender off on a parked truck.

We had just built up my friends new 1776cc with weber progressive carb. Fired it up on a test stand and were dialing it in. While I was tuning up the carb he went inside to make food, returning shortly with two steaming hot bean an cheese burritos on a paper plate.

As I was finishing up the carb adjustment he stood over me watching my method of adjustment. He asked me to rev it up, I did.

The following incident became the namesake of his 72 bug, but we will get to that in a minute.

Enjoying the sound of the new bugpack exhaust he celebrated. Unfortunately paper plates were not designed to accommodate the weight of two bean and cheese burritos under the stress of his celebration dance.

The paper plate buckled and one of the two burritos went for a dive..... right into the open carb.

The engine swallowed half the burrito before we had time to react, engine still revving .

I reached for the kill switch on the stand fearing the worse. But before I could get to it the engine sputtered, then coughed, then backfired. A large plume of black smoke exited the tailpipe, smelling of burnt food and gasoline.

Then the engine leveled out!!! It had passed the burrito!!!

We spent the next few hours cleaning out the system, checking for any signs of damage.

Surprisingly enough the burrito did not do any damage that we could see without splitting the case. He decided to run with it.

He's had it for two years now as a daily driver and it has had no unusual problems.

His 72 bug is a fat chick, due to the burrito incident, he named her gorda. (fat girl)

forgetting to secure the ignition wiring before going to the highway and due to a few loose wires we lost all lighting and it was about midnight with a dumba$$ tailgating us in a lifted chevy pickup, and then almost rear ending us as we turn on our flashers after having no lights for a few moments and apparently coming out of nowhere to him and us severing off the road to avoid being killed as he roared on by...

Always check your wiring after you work on something.

heres a way to have fun is to put your hand on top of the distributor checking the wires with one hand and the other hand on your bumber, while your car is running. youll have 30000volts jolt thourgh your body at 900rpm which is about 14 times a second. Yeah it knocked me straight on my ass and it took a second to realize what just happend. my brother thought it was funny seeing as he saw it happen

I did almost the same thing but everything was wet due to the pouring rain, anyway with the bumper soaked and the engine soaked and me soaked I went to lean my knees on the bumper with my feet still on the ground I reached into the compartment and touched something cold which seemed to to sting badly, then I wondered why I was on the ground so I got back up and reached and the same thing happened only it wasn't as bad and only then I realized I had been electrocuted, Its really a different experience...

As would I!! If I'm ever in one of those positions that rednecks on the internet seem to always be in where it's necessary to blow up an engine, I'm definitely going to try that Laughing

So I hiched a ride back to the Bay one hr later I got out of the car that gave a lift and as I put my hand in my pocket low and behold I found a rotor in my pocket Rolling Eyes , Uncle Doug gave me ride the very next day and she fired up right off the bat .

Accidentally burned an aerosol can in some household trash. As I bent to pick up a piece of paper that had blown out of the "pen" ( a square made of 4' field fence), the bottom of the can blew off sending it like a missile through the side of the pen right into my right eye from less than 2' away.

It took 23 stitches in my eyebrow, broke my nose, fractured my orbit which they repaired with a titanium plate, and popped a hole in my retina leaving me mostly blind in that eye. They did surgery on it 8 times trying to "fix" it, but were unsuccessful. Wa-a-a-a wa-a-a-a-a. Life marches on.

I now pay for trash pick-up.
