UPDATE- build is in full swing.
paint and body - at the shop and a go
engine - is out and down to long block. tins are being blasted and powerder coated today. 80% gloss black, Fan shroud going stainless steel color also powder coated.
Interior - I have alot of the parts needed for the reinstallation of everything since he is gutted at the moment.
-Still need to get gauges, looking at the Dakota DIgital CHT and Oil temp Gauges. Was thinking that those would look nice in a busdepot.com VDO gauge housing.
-Also still need seat stand mats and to do the side mats as well. Having the 79 brings up the challenge of patching the side mats together but with prior threads help I think i can get threw. Hopefully.
- need help with the flooring, i have new carpet ready to go in yet still need to find the best solution for the 1/8 substrate to go down. I know to use 3/8 plywood waterproofed but then comes the 1/8 thick hardy board that the carpet glues too, this piece of material dimensions are larger than a 4x8 sheet. So if i went with the standard at the hardware store I would end up with a seam in the floor decking and am worried it may show threw the carpet. Any ideas? Hope i didnt lose anyone the as this is confusing if you have not been here before.
-then its replacing all the paneling. this plan is to get 1/8 inch 4x8 sheets of mahogany and laminate the Glamour Cherry Formica on top of that to replicate the old panels. The old panels just had a big vinyl sticker of wood on them.
Well here some picture of what i did yesterday.
shine up electric exterior outlet- needs new sticker- need to find?
painted the housing for exterior plumbing - Before pic
after
painted some light gaurds and license plate holder.
And i shined my screen frames and will replace the screens today - before picture

You can get a new sticker for that. Actually all of the original camper stickers are reproduced, I have a sheet of them. Now to try and recall where I bought them... _________________ 1978 Westfalia • 1982 Rabbit Diesel • 2003 Audi TT quattro |

I did this task last year, before my new carpet installation. I used a 4x8 sheet of 1/4" masonite from Home Depot, and butt joined it towards the front of the bus. Nice clean precision cuts, then a piece of good quality duct tape over the joint. Does not show through the carpet at all. Make sure that the seam in your 3/8" plywood is in a different place, so they don't line up. I sort of recall using a bit of mastic (adhesive) between the layers as well, so that the 1/4" material would not be able to curl up later on. _________________ 1978 Sage Green Westfalia

Yeah, pretty sure I got mine from Go Westy. I got a sheet with more than that though, including all the warning stickers that go on the inside of the cabin. _________________ 1978 Westfalia • 1982 Rabbit Diesel • 2003 Audi TT quattro |

Here's some pictures.
The big one says "Before converting the bench into the double bed please push safety-belts between seat bench and back rest".
See that speaker? That's where the passenger ash tray went. It's been cut out on mine.
Second sticker says "Fix table on top of the motor compartment while driving" which is something I never do, heh.
The "Campmobile" decal is affixed to the spare tire cover, along with a Westfalia sticker. Those are easy to find, hit up GoWesty. Mine's peeling pretty bad.
This one on the kick panel says "Water max. 42 lb/sq. in." I think I bought this one separately, it doesn't seem to be on any of the two sheets from Wolfsburg West. I'm using Werksberg ABS plastic kick panels (highly recommended) and I just wanted the sticker on there so it would look original.
Here's the sticker on the steering column that explains the tire inflation pressures. It looks different than the reproduction.
Finally, here's my sheets. I don't know where the rest go and I'm guessing they're for earlier model buses. The Delta Six sticker obviously goes on the outside power outlet.
I don't know where "Drive only with popup top locked !" goes. Maybe under the radio? No idea on the Unicorn Industries sticker and the fridge ventilation sticker doesn't apply to me since I have a standard camper with icebox.
The valve adjustment decal goes on the fan shroud but I have hydraulic lifters so it wouldn't apply. There's a few gas stickers I don't know about and the Bosch 12 volt stickers go on the driver's door jamb maybe? I think the door handle stickers are for early bays but I'm not sure. I guess the brake fluid sticker goes under the driver's seat but I'm not sure where.
Hope that helps. _________________ 1978 Westfalia • 1982 Rabbit Diesel • 2003 Audi TT quattro |

| the 'Bosch 12 Volt' stickers are for the ignition coil. I think the type4 motors used the blue sticker and the type1's used the yellow one. i used the blue sticker on my coil after i painted it black. was going for the stock look. |
