Here are some pictures that De shot of the cruise in last night.

Tylers '66 slammed ride. Note the ratrod style striping. He drives the heck out of this bug, all over the valley.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Joe came South from PA. He is in the Fresh Air club in Pittsburgh. Turbo with a hugh intercooler that get charge temps down to 105*. Wastegate and pressure pop-off valves. 1600 cc and runs 41 mpg on the highway. He told me he is building a 2276 to put in it.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Mikes original paint, original pan '67. Original engine too. Only interior has been updated.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Chris's '84 Jetta. Way sharp! One of the best fox bodied cars I have seen. Oh yeah, his dad has maybe 5 ovals, a '51 split, 23 window and most likely 50 more stashed. His older brother owns some pro stock bug records on the strip.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Ted has another fine original '73 Thing. I believe this one is more original than mine. AND his gas heater works!!! I missed the new Beetle on the right to get thier information.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Lynn's '78 was immaculate! His 2180 with a Holley 390 4 barrel, C120 cam sounded so good I wanted to take it for a "spin"! In the background is Ed's '64. Another fine interior and body. It has been very well cared for.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Ed's '70 Baja is a sweet ride. (I am kinda partial to Baja's) I did not get to talk to Ed as much as I wanted, but he told me he uses it as his daily driver. Love the stance and look.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Ken's homemade Westy. Didn't get the year. but it is pre-'72 lowlight. Ken cut the top off one of Warren's buses and welded it back on this one to creat a Westy. Unless you know exactly what to look for, you will not be able to tell it is a clone. He also has on the dash, from the PO one of the original WV VW Club plaques.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

David does not yet have his '63 Lithia Buggy done, but brought out the '61 Vette. He did a 10-year frame off on the Vette and is a true HotRod! The buggy he is building will be another fine creation. Next to it is my '73 Thing and then Keith's '59 ex-drag bug. His bug spent many years on the strip and is a hot ride now with a "built" 1915 running dual 44's and competition heads, roll bar, drag seats and centerline wheels. The pearl paint was glowing last night after dark.

If anyone would like to go to the show down in Hurricane tomorrow, let me know. I'd like to get a group together and go down. I believe it starts around 9. Send me a PM if you would like to go so we can meet up beforehand.

Hey Joe thanks for the pics. Glad we had a great first meeting turn out. Lots of nice people. Nancy and I are working on some b&w pics to potentially use in our logo. I'll pass them around once we have a collection to chose from.

Here are some shots from a all makes car show today. As usual, I made it too late to register.

Picked up a new member. John has a super nice '73 auto stick Ghia Convertible. Only thing done is a new paint job and detail. A LOT of detail. It was so nice, he won best import at the show. That is saying something because he was up against a spot on Triumph.

John with a well deserved smile!!

Speaking of winning, Keith with his ex-drag car picked up some hardware too. He "beat up" a national street rod inspector guy last year at this show for being over looked, made the guy inspect his car for safety. Keith claims that is what got him his mantle piece this year. So, Keith has worked for this for a year!

Homer brought the Hippie bus out for a spin. This bus has been around the block amongst Wagen Folks members. Zac's mother De owned the bus and let her kids paint it up.
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

De bought this sticker for Homer at the Central Ohio Vintage VW Fest last month and we debated naming the club after it, but wanted to keep it somewhat family friendly, and not everyone owned a bus.

Scott, Leslie and Alex brought out their '67/'77 (body/pan) he finished this spring. Scott has some impressive butt kicking power in the rear with a dual carbed 2276. He has done some serious subtle customizing to this ride and he won first in class at Fast Times at the Farm this spring at a 250+ VW car show. It is one of those cars you can look at for hours and not see all his modifications. Notice a 3 fold og rag in the top?

Cool shot of Zac leaving.

Hey Joe thanks for posting the pics. Had a fun time today and hope we can get even more VWs at the next "V8" show. We'll be sure to include the Thing in the pics next time.

Keith, I was taking the pictures, and I did not even get my own car in them!

Thinking pretty heavy about going to Cincy next weekend, but not taking a VW with me. Never been to the VW Porsche reunion and would like to check it out. Kenny said he would go too.

It's a good show. Check out my pics, I have quite a few from the one I attended several years ago. I enjoyed it. It's not a bad drive up and it's in a nice area.

Well, lets do it if the weather is decent.

I will take the truck and car trailer in case "someone" wants to drag "a car" home.

The ten day says 74 and sunny. Zero percent chance of rain. Sounds like a good day so far. I'll keep an eye on it as the week progresses.

Homer's Hippie bus made the front page of todays Charleston Daily Mail!

Cool getting a Vee Dub on the front page over all those V8's.

Way to go Homer!

Interesting to note is that John's Ghia beat out that Triumph for best import. I find that impressive!

Finished rebuilding my top frame and installing the new The Thing Shop top on my '73.

Wow! It makes it so much nicer. A definite upgrade worth the money and time.
