| going to tackle that myself soon. if you search you will find some will cut out the vents to properly prep and paint in there and weld em back. others do not... search, read and good luck |

It would seem like using a small air brush thru the vents would get some color back there. _________________ http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/mr_bojangles500/

I seen some old timer do this on parts like that..
take vasaline and put a thin layer all around the outside vent. Then with a tight pattern on the gun - trigger spray the vent area inside until you get it all. Let it dry up (10 mins) wipe the Vasaline up.. wax and grease remover where the Vasaline was... spray the rest of the car..
I've never done it that way though. Just trigger sprayed them with a tight pattern from 2 feet away or so. _________________ My Current Project is at:

I would never use Vasaline just my thoughts primer is very porus and will soak up the oil from tha vasaline and give you problems when spraying base coat over or even clear coat. Ive had fish eyes from oily surfaces before even after using a degreaser or oil remover that just sounds like a headache to me.
In my opinion I would have the area soda blasted so theres no paint left anywhere and you need to be anal about this part because its really hard to sand edges in that area. I would tape of each vent so you dont over spray them until your happy with the coverage on the area behind them Then I would spary a primer surfacer that lays out flat with minimal to no peel with a touch up gun and adjust it down to a small pattern keep your air pressure the same as usuall because you want to make sure the paint atomizes well or it wont flow out as well and close the needle to about 2/3s of what you normally spray with because you wanna make sure you dont get any runs in this area and plan on making about 5 coats, it will take a bit more to cover(keep in mind this way may seem a little longer but you'll only be doing it once)When your happy with the coverage remove the masking tape from the vents and spray a couple coats over the outer vents till there covered. This method may not work well with a clear coat application because clear needs to be sprayed in wet coats and with the fluid needle adjusted in a bit it may be difficult to get the wet look. There are ways to color sand and polish this area but thats the last thing you want to do trust me _________________ quick phone a friend!! |

| I used one of those disposable spray bottles and just thinned the paint slightly, then put the nozzle right up to each of the slots and went all the way across. It came out great! |
